The Burlington Police Department and Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department were proud to partner with Bickel’s Cycling & Fitness to add three new service e-bikes to their fleet through funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance grant.

Bike patrol has been part of our community since 1997, and these new bikes provide officers with a practical, reliable way to cover more ground while staying visible and connected with the community.

Built specifically for public-service use, these Class 3 e-bikes feature Bosch electric assist up to 28 mph, long-range batteries, digital patrol lighting, and equipment racks. The e-bike systems are third-party tested and meet current safety standards, including UL 2849 certification.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make these bikes ready for service!

We’re proud to see a long-standing tradition of bike patrol continue to evolve with new tools that help our local officers serve the community safely and effectively. 🚴👮🏻‍♂️
