15th Annual Sustainability Academy Harvest Run

Intervale Center, 180 Intervale Rd, Burlington
9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Join us for one of Sustainability Academy’s favorite fall traditions! The 15th Annual Harvest Run takes place Sunday, October 18th at the Intervale Center. Come run, walk, cheer, and enjoy a fun fall morning of music, food, and community while supporting the Sustainability Academy. All info can be found in the link in bio.

This year, students at Sustainability Academy have been exploring systems- smaller parts that come together to make a whole. In music class we have been discussing how people in society collaborate to make our community run, and we decided to highlight some very important workers with a remix of our original Thank You Song. In honor of custodian appreciation day, we decided to write, produce, and perform a song of gratitude to SA’s beloved Mr. Sonam and Mr. Jim.

First grade students have been studying map making and the systems in our community. Today they took a walking field trip to City Hall. They were able to meet with a representative from the Mayor’s office and ask questions about the important work that happens in City Hall.

This year, we grew many potatoes in our school gardens! 3rd graders and 1st graders started harvesting them this week. Stay tuned for more potato updates— we have some exciting cross curriculum collaborations happening this school year. 🥔

Have you heard? The 2nd annual trout parade is tomorrow May 29th. The first graders spent part of their day getting their “trout fits” ready for tomorrow, as Ms. Leyser is showing off here. Want to know why trout need trees? Ask a first grade botanist!
