Strong public schools serve as the foundation of a thriving community. Today, local business, civic, and government leaders stepped into our buildings for Principal for a Day, a collaborative event hosted by the Alamance-Burlington School System, Alamance Chamber, Alamance Community Foundation, and Impact Alamance.
As seen in these photos at Alexander Wilson Elementary and Southeast Alamance High School, community leaders spent the morning shadowing principals, experiencing morning arrival procedures, hallway transitions, instructional support, and campus operations. In addition to the administrative tasks and observations, there was time for discussion, reflection, and Q&A.
Following the morning visits, principals and guests gathered at Alamance Community College for a lunch program highlighting our ABSS Career & Technical Education programs. Terri Drummond, Director of CTE, spoke on the vital role technical education plays across our community, supported by insights from CTE Teacher of the Year Adara Barnes. Attendees also heard from student Chase Miller, a CTE Technology intern, who shared firsthand how the hands-on skills he is mastering are setting him up for real-world success. Superintendent Dr. Aaron Fleming also spoke on the importance of community partnerships and showcased some of our academic highlights.
Community leadership directly shapes local policy, economic development, and civic support, all of which mold the environment where our students grow and learn. We extend our sincere gratitude to all of the guests who gave their time to gain a deeper understanding of public education and its impact on Alamance County!
