On this 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the members of the Burlington Resident Trooper's Office and Burlington Police reflect on the horrors of that day, the uncertainty and new meaning of a black plume of smoke against a clear blue sky, and the months of pins and needles as a nation wondered when the next attack would come and what it would be. 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 125 members of the US Military, totaling 2977 victims on that day. Since then, deaths from 9/11 illnesses have brought that number to 10,000, with many more still suffering. Connecticut State Troopers Walt Greene and Eugene Kenneth Baron Jr. were among the fallen that responded that day and later succumbed to illness. We will never forget them, or any of those lost that day.
We also remember what it was like in the months that followed as people from all walks of life; rich, poor, black, white, men, and women, stood together as Americans, bound by common legacy and a common flag.

Emergencies: 911
Non-Emergency: 860-673-4856, Option #7 if automatic system answers.
Troop L dispatcher: 860-626-7900, Option #7.

Need to reach us? Unlike a full-time police department that has dispatchers, administrators, and support staff in the building 24/7, our officers are frequently out on patrol, at calls, handling emergencies, etc. We are a division of the State Police and dispatched by Troop L in Litchfield. In all emergencies, call 911 and you will immediately be routed to the correct dispatcher. For non-emergency incidents or situations, call us at 860-673-4856. If we are not in the office, it will ring through to the barracks. Select option 7 from the automated menu to reach the Dispatcher. You can also contact Troop L directly at 86-626-7900, Option #7. They will either dispatch an Officer or Trooper to assist you or get you in touch with one of us. Rest assured, if we are not in the office, an Officer or Trooper is always available to provide you with police assistance.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 5:00 AM, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Burlington Resident Trooper's Office, Burlington Police, and State Police Troop L executed a search warrant at 64 Punch Brook Road in Burlington. This included several State Police assets, including the Emergency Services Unit Tactical Team and Canine Teams. Residents in the area may have heard the deployment of loud distractionary devices (commonly called "flash bangs") at the start of the operation. Several subjects were immediately detained without incident. There were no shots fired as has been reported on local social media. All tactical and canine units quickly cleared with investigators remaining throughout the morning into the afternoon. One subject was arrested and other arrests are anticipated. There were no injuries to any subjects or law enforcement and there was no danger to the public at any time. All further questions or media inquiries should be referred to Troop L in Litchfield or The Connecticut State Police Public Information Office.

The Burlington Resident Trooper’s Office, Burlington Police, State Police Troop L, CT DOT, Public Works, and Burlington Fire and EMS responded to numerous storm related emergencies on the evening of July 4th. Many local and State roads remain closed with trees and/or wires down. If you must go out tonight, be aware that there are still many trees down encroaching on active travel lanes. These trees are generally hard to see until you are already on top of them. Drive with extra care and watch for downed trees, power lines, and late-falling trees. If a road is blocked with cones, tape, or otherwise closed, please find another route to your destination. Downed power lines should be assumed to be active and energized.
The Burlington Police would also like to thank the numerous passers by that stopped to help with moving large trees out of the road.
Stay safe and Happy 4th of July Burlington!
