Trick-Or-Treating will be held Saturday. October 31st from 6 pm - 8 pm for the Village of Bush. 🎃🍫🍭🍬

Try to remember how Halloween was when you were a kid, how much fun it was going door to door to receive candy and show off your costume. Make it fun for these kids!

It’s only a couple of hours, enjoy the little monsters that stop by to visit!

Just a couple reminders to pass along!

Fall Clean Up day is next Monday, October 5th. Place items by the road (not on) for pick up by Sunday evening. Republic will not empty your blue Republic trash cans during this clean up. Those will only be picked up on our normal trash day. A list is provided below of what is/isn’t accepted by Republic Waste during Fall clean up.

Second round of letters were sent out for those violating property ordinances. We have already noticed a few who have been working on issues, but there are still more who have a lot of work to do.

Violations being sent out are for some of the following: inoperable vehicles, overgrown weeds, and junk/garbage. If you have any of these issues, you will receive a letter. If you aren’t sure if you are on a list, call our office.

We are continuing to work with Bi-County as well as EPA on the matter, and our city attorney in certain situations. Once notices are received, you will have a certain amount of days to clean it up depending on the violation and what ordinance states. If you choose not to cooperate, fines will be imposed upon the property and a lien will be filed against it.

A pair of children’s eye glasses were found over by our water tower. If you believe these may belong to your child, please call or stop by our office. Must provide name on the case to claim. Office is open until 4 pm today.

If you received a disconnect notice for past due water bill, this amount is due before 1 pm today, September 9th. If you haven’t paid or called to make payment arrangements, please do so before 1 pm today to avoid interruption of service. If water service is disconnected, a $50 reconnect fee will be added to the amount due.

A couple of events coming up for the Hurst-Bush community! The Whistle Stop will be hosting a vendor event tomorrow, September 5th from 9 am-5 pm in Hurst. Info is posted on their flyer attached.

Then the following week, Saturday September 12th the Bush Fire Dept will host a vendor event in Bush Park. Information is listed on the attached flyer. Please contact a member of the department for more information.

In times of tragedy, it is often difficult to find words to express your thoughts. For now, we'll leave it at this-
Thank you to our amazing Du Quoin Fire Department and all the surrounding departments that came together to fight this horrible fire.
Thank you to all the businesses that opened their doors as a cool refuge for weary first responders. Thank you to the individuals, churches, and businesses that donated water, ice, food and supplies.
As the evening progresses, please continue to keep the owners and employees of the businesses affected by this tragic fire in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the fire fighters and first responders who will remain on scene throughout the night.
The face and future of Du Quoin Main Street changed forever today.
