The Butler County Area Agency on Aging (AAoA) administers programs and manages services for Butler County residents who are 60 years of age or older. Agency programs and services are designed to serve approximately 41,000 older adults who call Butler County home. The AAoA currently provides supportive services to approximately 18,000 senior citizens a year in Butler County. Butler County Area Agency on Aging operates nine senior centers where active and vital older adults enjoy a full range of activities that include health, wellness and exercise programs, Life Lecture Series, Supper Clubs, trips and traditional crafts and games.

Elaine Heitzer, 63, a professional artist from Butler County submitted her painting titled “Mountain Falls” to the Older Artists of PA Showcase.

“The theme of passages and light appears in my work quite often. I find symbols of my life’s journey in the things I choose to paint. Life can be tragic and dark at times, but I keep my eyes on what is ahead and search for the beauty to be found. I want to share that through my paintings.”

On Wednesday, September 30 Secretary Kavulich visited our office and center, where he underscored the drastic changes the Shapiro administration implemented to better protect older adults while improving the transparency, accountability and system performance of Pennsylvania’s local aging network.

“Participating in the state’s CAPE evaluation has strengthened our agency’s work in meaningful ways,” said Butler County AAA Executive Director Beth Herold. “As a director for 15 years and a nurse, I value any tool that helps us improve the care and support we provide. CAPE gave us constructive feedback, highlighted our strengths, and guided us in refining practices that directly benefit the individuals we serve.”

More information about the history and implementation of the new CAPE system is available at pa.gov/CAPE
