The Twins are turning 30 years old this week!
Engine 341 and Engine 342 are sister fire engines that were manufactured by E-ONE Fire Trucks and distributed by Absolute Fire Protection back in 1996. Both engines are Cyclone Pumpers with 1,500 GPM pumps and 1,000 gallons of water.
Engine 341 is assigned to the Kinney Hose Company #1, and has become well-known for the iconic Wooden Firemen that is painted on its cab doors. The statue itself is on display at the Carey Ave Firehouse
Engine 342 is assigned to the Bartholdi Hose Company #2. It has paintings of the Statue Liberty on the cab doors in honor of the ties between our Borough, Richard Butler and Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, who was the designer of the Statue of Liberty. A replica is on display on the Balcony of the Butler Police Department.
Currently Engine 341 carries our Rescue Equipment. It is the first due apparatus to car fires, vehicle extrications and other rescue disciplines that we cover.
Engine 342 is our workhorse. It is first due for all other assignments.
Over the past 30 years these apparatus have seen a lot of work, just not in our town but throughout the area. They have traveled all over Morris and Passaic County assisting other Fire Departments on large scale incidents. Like any good warrior, they are tired and they have their battle scars, but they continue to push on to fight another day.
Over the past 30 years these 2 Fire Engines have carried a lot of great men and women of the Butler Fire Department to thousands of calls.
We are asking our followers to help us celebrate this 30 year milestone, by sharing your favorite memory and any pictures you have of Engine 341 and Engine 342.
Thank you and we look forward to reading your comments.
