๐ STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE
Last evening at approximately 8:00 PM, the Northern Pendleton Fire District, along with mutual aid partners from Falmouth Fire, Pendleton County Fire, and Campbell Fire Rescue, was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 10000 block of Highway 159 in the Mount Auburn area of our district.
Within minutes, Engine 2801, Rescue 2820, and Assistant Chief 2851 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the front door of the residence.
The crew of Engine 2801 immediately initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while Rescue 2820 conducted a primary search of the home.
The homeowner confirmed that all occupants were safely outside.
Shortly afterward, Falmouth Engine 2602 arrived and conducted a secondary search while assisting with fire suppression.
Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of all responding crews, the fire was extinguished and contained to the kitchen of the residence.
The homeowner reported that the fire originated from a lithium-ion battery that was charging inside the home.
โค๏ธ We ask our community to please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the aftermath of this incident. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Trinity Baptist Church for stepping up and assisting the family last night. It is a wonderful reminder of how our community comes together to support those in need.
๐ We extend our appreciation to all responding personnel and mutual aid partners for their quick actions, teamwork, and continued commitment to protecting our community.
โ ๏ธ Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Reminder: Always use the manufacturer-approved charger, charge batteries on a hard, noncombustible surface away from exits, and avoid charging them unattended or while sleeping. If a battery becomes unusually hot, swells, emits an odor, or produces smoke, move away immediately and call 911 if there is any sign of fire.
