One of the things I enjoy most about coaching youth sports is seeing how much confidence a child can develop over a single season.

Sometimes it's not even about winning a game.

It's the child who was nervous on the first day but now runs onto the field excited to play. It's watching teammates encourage each other after a mistake. It's seeing kids discover what they're capable of.

Those experiences matter.

I've coached different age groups over the years, and every season reminds me how important positive coaches and supportive families are.

To all the volunteer coaches wrapping up their fall seasons, thank you for giving your time to our kids!

What's one lesson a coach taught you that you've carried into adulthood?

One week from tomorrow, our community will have an opportunity to help shape the future of the Feather River Recreation & Park District.

Over these past several months, I've spent a lot of time discussing park maintenance, safety, youth sports, and the opportunities we have to improve our recreation facilities.

One thing has become very clear to me. Our community has no shortage of ideas or people who care.

What we need is a long-term vision, responsible planning, and the willingness to follow through.

That's what I've been working toward throughout this campaign.

If you'd like to learn more about my priorities and the projects I've been researching, visit www.votequinn.org.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts with me.

As we head into another week, I want to thank everyone who continues to share ideas, ask questions, and participate in conversations about our community.

Whether we're discussing parks, youth sports, schools, or events like Frights & Lights, I appreciate hearing different perspectives.

I believe some of the best ideas come from the people who use our parks, raise families here, volunteer, and support our local businesses.

We don't have to agree on every issue to work toward a better Oroville.

What's one positive change you've seen in our community recently that deserves more recognition?

I believe we should think about our parks in terms of what they could become over the next 10 to 15 years.

Not just what we can afford to fix this month, but how we can create a long-term plan that addresses maintenance, accessibility, safety, and improvements.

One idea I've been exploring is a rotating capital improvement schedule where we concentrate on meaningful upgrades at different parks each year.

It would require careful budgeting, realistic priorities, and community input.

But having a long-term plan gives us something to work toward and a way to measure progress.

What would you want to see included in a 15-year plan for our parks?

Community events should be created with the community, not simply planned for the community.

I believe Oroville should explore forming a volunteer Community Festivals Committee. The concept would be similar to a PTA, bringing residents, local businesses, schools, nonprofits, event organizers, artists, and civic leaders together around one shared goal: creating stronger community events.

This committee would not replace the organizations already doing valuable work. It would help support them, expand participation, and connect more people with opportunities to contribute.

A responsible structure could include:

• Public applications for volunteer members

• Clear bylaws, responsibilities, and terms of service

• Open meetings where residents can share ideas

• Representation from businesses, schools, nonprofits, youth organizations, and neighborhoods

• Coordination of an annual community events calendar

• Volunteer, vendor, sponsor, and parade entry recruitment

• Fundraising through sponsorships, donations, grants, and vendor fees

• Public reports following major events to identify what worked and what could improve

The goal would not be to create more paid government positions or add another layer of bureaucracy. It would be to organize the community talent, energy, and ideas we already have.

A school PTA succeeds because parents, teachers, and community members work together. I believe a similar model could help Oroville strengthen existing festivals and develop new events without placing the full responsibility on taxpayers or a small group of organizers.

Would you volunteer for a Community Festivals Committee? What voices should be represented to make it effective and trustworthy?

This is something I have been thinking about for a long time, what would the community think if we did something like this? would this improve our Frights and Lights Festival?

10/25/2026

I've been thinking about ways our parks could host more activities that bring different generations together.

Not everything has to be a major tournament or large festival.

Imagine regular community game days with co****le, chess, outdoor games, and activities where grandparents, parents, and children can all participate.

Sometimes a simple event can create opportunities for neighbors to meet and families to spend time together.

Would you attend a monthly community game day at one of our parks?

There's more to Max's Miracle Ranch than pumpkins and train rides.

Behind this special place in Biggs is a story of compassion, family, and helping children facing serious medical challenges.

The ranch grew from the Williams family's desire to create meaningful experiences for children and support families navigating difficult circumstances.

That's something worth recognizing.

I love seeing places in Butte County that bring families together while representing a greater purpose.

Let's help more people discover the story behind Max's Miracle Ranch.

Did you know about the mission that inspired this place?
