Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives The Archives is housed in the former 1900 Butte Fire Department station located in the Butte Anaconda National Historic Landmark District.

In 2007 a $7.5 million dollar bond issue was passed to renovate the existing Fire Station and add a humidity and temperature controlled vault addition. The newly renovated Archives opened in August of 2010, and features a larger reading room, two humidity and temperature controlled vaults to house thousands of feet of historical documents, and an auditorium to host conferences, meetings, and speakers.

Yesterday we made County Cavan connections! We spent the day visiting with the Cavan County Museum staff, as well a local group who are preserving Ballyjamesduff local and Butte Copper King, Marcus Daly's legacy! They brought us to key sites in Daly's life in the area, including the land where his childhood home was located, the bridge he hid under after getting in trouble before escaping to America, and the church he sent money back to, once becoming the Copper King we know today!

We are so excited to continue working with the County Cavan Museum to preserve this legacy!
