πŸš’πŸ”₯ Train Hard. Stay Ready. Always Improving!

At Byers Fire Protection District, we strive to train hard, improve every day, and continuously strengthen our skills so we can provide the best possible service to our community.

On October 7th, members of Byers Fire and Strasburg Fire came together for a joint training focused on first-due structure fire operations.

Throughout the training, crews worked on several critical components of an initial structure fire response, including:

πŸš’ Conducting 360Β° size-ups
πŸ”₯ Tools to the door
πŸ’§ Establishing water supply
πŸš’ Hose deployments and advancement
πŸͺœ Ground ladder placement
🚨 Apparatus positioning and assignments

These skills are the foundation of an effective structure fire response. From the moment the first apparatus arrives, every decision, assignment, and action matters. Practicing these operations helps our firefighters build confidence, improve communication, strengthen teamwork, and operate more efficiently and safely on the fireground.

Training together makes us stronger. We appreciate the continued partnership between Byers Fire and Strasburg Fire and the dedication of our members who consistently put in the work to become better firefighters.

Our communities deserve firefighters who are prepared, capable, and committed to improving every day. That’s exactly what we strive for!

Train together. Work together. Protect together. πŸš’πŸ”₯

πŸš’ Firefighter I JPR Testing & Live Fire Training! πŸ”₯

On October 3rd, Byers Fire Protection District hosted Firefighter I Job Performance Requirement (JPR) testing, including a live burn, with members from Byers Fire and Strasburg Fire!

JPR testing is an important milestone in a firefighter’s training and certification process. It allows firefighters to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform essential firefighting tasks safely and effectively. These evaluations help ensure our firefighters are prepared to work as a team, operate under challenging conditions, and respond when our communities need them most.

A HUGE thank you to Kiowa Fire Department for allowing us to use your burn building! We truly appreciate the opportunity to utilize your facility, not only for certification testing but also to run additional live-fire scenarios afterward. These hands-on training opportunities are invaluable, allowing our firefighters to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and gain experience in a controlled environment.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to the newly certified Firefighter I members of Byers Fire and Strasburg Fire! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to training have paid off. This is a huge accomplishment and another step forward in your firefighting careers!

Training never stops, and neither does our commitment to being better prepared for the communities we serve.

Train hard. Stay humble. Never stop learning. πŸš’πŸ”₯
