Today marks an exciting milestone for the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department as we officially break ground on a much needed addition to our fire station.
This expansion will include sleeping quarters, showers, and a day room/meeting room designed to better serve the dedicated volunteers who sacrifice their time to protect our community. For years, our volunteers have spent countless hours at the station, often pulling weekend duty crews, sleeping on cots, and gathering in the apparatus bays between calls. While they have always made the best of what they had, the time has come for facilities that better support their commitment and dedication.
The new addition will provide a comfortable and functional space for firefighters to rest, train, and meet while on duty. Just as importantly, it will allow members to separate themselves from the bays and equipment areas where toxins and carcinogens can accumulate after emergency responses. Creating a cleaner living and gathering space is a significant step toward protecting the long term health and safety of our volunteers.
This project represents more than just additional square footage it represents an investment in the people who answer the call day and night to serve Victoria and the surrounding community. Our volunteers have earned and deserve a facility that reflects their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.
We are excited to begin this next chapter and look forward to sharing updates as construction progresses. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department and helped make this project possible.

Everyone keep our brothers and sisters at Byhalia Fire & Rescue in your prayers as they lost one of their own. Also keep Mr. Tommy Cartwright's family in your prayers. Rest Easy Brother we have it from here.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our own firefighters, Tommy Cartwright (Tex).

Tex started his firefighting career in 1985 with the Byhalia Vol. Fire Department. Since then, he has always been an active member with no separation from the fire service. He served his community for over 40 years.

If you knew Tex, you knew his love for the fire service and the community. He was outspoken, full of life, and would do anything for anybody. He was one of a kind and never met a stranger.

Those of us with the Byhalia Vol. Fire Department have definitely lost a great friend.

Rest easy Tex, we have it from here.

The Victoria Fire Department would like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone in the community who came out and supported our Boston Butt and BBQ Plate fundraiser. Your support means more to us than you know, and we truly appreciate every purchase that was made.

We would also like to thank everyone who allowed us to use their smokers, the individuals who spent countless hours helping cook, and those who donated items and supplies to help make this fundraiser possible. It takes a community working together to make events like this successful, and we are beyond grateful for each and every person who contributed.

Thank you again from all of us at Victoria Fire Department!
