Training is beyond important when it comes to the fire service. Your Cache firefighters spent some time this Saturday morning working on hooking the fire engine to a fire hydrant for water supply, pulling hose off of the engine, spraying water while getting more familiar with the nozzle, loading the hose back on correctly, and overall just worked on being more prepared when you need us. We can't say enough about how awesome our guys and girls on this department are.

All members present today were:

Fire Chief- John Bowers
Assistant Fire Chief- Steve Red Elk
EMS Division Chief- Mike Bolin
Lieutenant- Whitney Red Elk
Firefighter- Eric Ingram
Firefighter- Jonathan Knauss
Firefighter- Billy Early
Firefighter- Ryder Early
Firefighter- Andrew Permenter
Firefighter- Ryot Early
Firefighter- MacKinley Stacy

Comanche County Burn ban is extended for 14 days longer. Although we will hopefully see rain and cooler temperatures increase in the future, the ground and grass are still dry and the potential for wildfires remains elevated. Remember if you see active flames or fire, call 911 immediately.

šŸ”„ WHEN THERE IS A FIRE, KEEP ROADWAYS CLEAR

We understand the instinct to stop, look, take a photo, or share what’s happening.

But on a wildfire, that extra traffic can quickly become part of the emergency.

One stopped vehicle can:

šŸš’ Delay responders trying to reach homes, people, or changing fire conditions
šŸš— Clog evacuation routes being used by residents who are trying to get out
āš ļø Create another emergency if smoke, fire, or traffic conditions suddenly change

Wildfires move fast. Roads that are clear one minute can become dangerous the next.

So when there is a fire:

Keep moving.
Keep roadways clear.
Don’t stop for photos or photo-ops.

If you are not involved in the response or do not live in the affected area, the safest and most helpful thing you can do is stay out of the way and give responders room to work.

Extra traffic puts lives at risk.

The burn ban for Comanche County has been extended until September 21st. Please use caution when doing anything outdoors and continue to follow the rules of the burn ban. On September 12th, Cache Fire, along with Indiahoma Fire Dept , Pecan Creek Fire Department, the US Wildland Fire Service, US Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement, Cache PD, Comanche County Sheriff's Office, Comanche County Emergency Management, Comanche County Western District, Memorial Health EMS, and others were called out to 2 separate fires. One of these fires began while a lawnmower was being used, which is not something that is prohibited in the burn ban. This goes to show that no matter what you're doing outdoors, remain aware of your surroundings and call 911 at the first site of active flames and fire. The quick actions of residents that called 911 made the difference. These fires were fueled by dry conditions, low humidity, and plenty of fuels from tall grass, trees, and other objects that were in their paths. Luckily there were no injuries reported and no residential structures lost. Thanks to the quick response of several departments, these fires were controlled and prevented from causing more extensive damage. Thank you to all of you that stopped by and checked to see if we needed anything, thank you for your prayers, and a special thank you to those that stopped by and provided food and drinks when we really needed them the most out there. Again, we are proud to be a part of an amazing community.

Cache Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on Paint Road around 6 P.M this evening. Cache Fire requested mutual aid from other departments quickly. Thanks to the men and women from Cache Fire, Indiahoma Fire Dept , and Pecan Creek Fire Department, the fire was extinguished before it reached any homes. There was great teamwork from everyone and we are thankful for our neighboring departments quick response. Unfortunately there was damage to two out buildings, and to several fences. There were no reported injuries from this fire.
