THANK YOU Friends of the Library Cadillac!

October 18th-24th is National Friends of the Library Week! So many more resources and events are made possible by their dedication to the Cadillac Wexford Public Library.

This year, the Cadillac FOL:
- purchased the prizes for adult summer reading,
- raised money to support teen and kids summer reading,
- spear-headed the grant with the Cadillac Community Foundation to create memory kits,
- hosted a teen bookmark contest,
- donated money toward the history speaker's series,
- and provided money for the teen vibe and thrive program!

They also provide additional speakers, programs, and more for adults at the Cadillac Library!

Have you ever wondered what the Friends of the Library is and what it does? The Friends of the Cadillac Library, or FOL, is a separate 501c3 organization dedicated to supporting the library mission and the broader Cadillac community. Public libraries are government organizations, not 501c3 nonprofits.

Friends groups exist all over the country and they fill lots of different needs, usually by raising money for the library or awareness of it. Library staff don't always have the time or legal ability to support the library in the same ways a Friend's group can.

In Cadillac, our FOL raises money to support our initiatives and events. They run used book sales three times a year, maintain the continuous book sale in the Cadillac Library and even sell books online! Using their 501c3 they apply for grants that the library does not have access to.

If you would like to learn more about the Cadillac Friends of the Library, you can visit their website at friendsofthecadillaclibrary.wordpress.com.
