We are saddened by the passing of Trooper Ritger. Our thoughts and prayers are with the State Patrol, his family and friends. Rest Easy, Trooper Ritger...we have the Watch from here.

It is with profound sadness that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin State Patrol announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper Bradley Ritger at the age of 29.

On September 21, 2026, Trooper Ritger was responding to a traffic pursuit when he deployed a tire deflation device on a bridge deck west of the Dunn County/Eau Claire County line. As he moved to a position of cover, he fell from the bridge onto the roadway below. Despite lifesaving efforts and critical medical care, Trooper Ritger succumbed to his injuries on October 2, 2026.

Trooper Ritger joined the Wisconsin State Patrol as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. He served in the Northwest Region for nearly five years, primarily in the Dunn County area. During his career, he attained certifications as a general law enforcement instructor, mobile field force team member and squad leader, and salvage vehicle inspector. Prior to his service with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Trooper Ritger served with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for three years.

Trooper Ritger was a dedicated public servant whose strong work ethic and positive presence left a lasting impact on anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached every situation with professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether assisting the public, supporting his fellow troopers, or taking on difficult challenges, he consistently demonstrated compassion and willingness to help wherever needed. His dedication to his family and unwavering commitment to his profession will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, loved ones and all who served alongside him. As the community mourns, the Wisconsin State Patrol has placed a law enforcement memorial vehicle at its Northwest Region Post in Eau Claire where the public is welcome to drop off cards, flowers, or other condolences.

Out of respect for the family, no additional information will be shared at this time. Funeral arrangements are being made by the family. We kindly ask media and the public to respect their privacy and space for grieving.

Thanks to community input, Cadott’s police squad car now sports its new department motto, Protecting Cadott with Pride, as well as their core values. The decals not only identify the cruiser, but show citizens that the officers care about the community they serve. “I think it adds a nice hometown touch,” said police chief Tim Bowman.

Yesterday, the Cadott Lions Club donated a refrigerator and a freezer unit to store evidence, both short- and long-term! Certain items seized at scenes must be chilled or frozen to preserve potential evidence and prevent biological and chemical degradation, all while maintaining the integrity of the evidence.

The following are items that need a refrigerator or freezer to preserve that evidence. They include, but are not limited to: sexual assault kits, bodily fluids, buccal swabs, DNA extracts, bone, tissue, remains and other body parts.

With this, we are able to adequately preserve evidence in a criminal investigation and prosecution, which can sometimes take over a year.

We are lucky to have such a great organization like the Cadott Lions to support the Cadott Police Department. Their willingness to provide the tools to help us fight crime so that we can be successful is commendable.

Pictured below is Chief Tim Bowman accepting the refrigerator from Cadott Lions member Brian Dulmes. Thank you!!!

SQUAD UPDATE!!!

Check out our NEW look!!! (Before and after)

Last week, Ron's Designs placed our Department Motto and Core Values on the sides of each squad car.

Our Department Motto was placed on the front quarter panels, and our Core Values were placed on each side of the squad cars. We hope this serves as a reminder of what your Police Department stands for and what we strive to be.

As you may recall, Village residents helped select our Motto and Core Values over the last year. We are excited for this next chapter for the Police Department and will continue to serve our community by the Motto and Core Values YOU have helped us select!

The first photo is what the squad cars looked like before the Motto & Core Values were added. The next two photos show the new decals and a close-up view of the Motto.

Are you attending the September 11 Memorial Event at the Cadott Veterans Tribute tomorrow??? Everyone is invited!

If you are, attached is a map for parking and for where to enter and exit. We would appreciate it if you could arrive/depart via one of the driveways to Lavorata Rd.

We recognize this is a special event for those who have lost their lives in the wake of the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago, and we will be honoring them. Hope to see you there!

***PHONE CALL SPAM ALERT***

Good afternoon, Village residents! Unfortunately, we have received multiple calls about someone pretending to work for Xcel Energy, calling and threatening to turn off power to people's residences if they didn't make their payment within the next 30 minutes.

This is completely FALSE!!! All residences inside Village limits have power that is owned by the Village. We do not purchase from Xcel Energy. If you were to receive a call about your power, it would be someone from the Village of Cadott.

Please do not make any payments to phone calls like this, and do not give them any of your personal information.

Thank you!!!
