Hunting season is here! Once you bring home your harvest, do you know the safest way to preserve it?

Stop by South Georgia Outdoors on Saturday, October 31, from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM for an Ask an Agent booth with UGA Extension – Grady County Family & Consumer Sciences!

We’ll be talking about research-based methods for safely preserving wild game, including:

🫙 Pressure Canning
❄️ Freezing
🥩 Dehydrating & Jerky
🦌 Safe Handling & Storage
❓ And YOUR wild game food preservation questions!

Whether you’re an experienced hunter or bringing home your first harvest, stop by and learn how to safely take your wild game from field to fork!

You worked hard for the harvest. Preserve it safely.

🦌🎯 FREE HUNTER'S SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE! 🎯🦌

Are you or someone you know looking to earn a Hunter's Safety Certification? Here's your opportunity!

UGA Extension and CTAE Young Farmers Advisor, Dr. Malone Harrell, have partnered to offer a FREE Hunter's Safety Certification Course for individuals in 4th grade and up!

This course is especially encouraged for 4-H members planning to participate in the SAFE Shooting Sports Program, but everyone is welcome to register!

📅 Date: Monday, December 21, 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
🍽️ Lunch Break: 12:00 – 1:00 PM
🥪 Lunch is NOT provided. Participants should bring their own lunch or make arrangements during the scheduled lunch break.
📍 Location: Cairo High School, Room 49 (behind the Media Center)
💲 Cost: FREE!

🚨 IMPORTANT – BEFORE YOU REGISTER!

All participants must first create an account through Go Outdoors Georgia to obtain their GADNR Customer ID number.

You will need this number to complete your course registration!

🤝 Family and community resources
➕ And other services that benefit our community!
