As we wrap up National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 18โ€“24), it's a great time to remember that everyone has a role in keeping our roads safe.

๐Ÿ‘• Wear bright colors or reflective gear.
๐Ÿ”ฆ Carry a flashlight to help you see and be seen.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Stay with your group and stick to well-lit areas.
๐Ÿšธ Look both ways before crossing and use crosswalks whenever available.
๐Ÿš™ Drivers, slow down, stay alert, and watch for trick-or-treaters!

With Halloween just around the corner, let's look out for one another and help keep our community safe.

Weโ€™re now six months into construction of the future Caldwell Fire Station #1 and Fire Headquarters remodel, and itโ€™s exciting to see the station begin to take shape!

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s been happening:
๐Ÿ”บ Masonry work on the apparatus bays is complete. Crews will begin laying block on the living quarters side of the station next week.
๐Ÿ”บ Interior wood framing and concrete work are progressing at Fire Headquarters.
๐Ÿ”บ Crews are installing plumbing pipes, electrical wiring and other systems inside the buildings before the walls are finished.
๐Ÿ”บ Roof replacement work is underway at Fire Headquarters.

Over the coming weeks, crews will focus on installing plumbing and electrical systems in the apparatus bays, pouring concrete for the gym and support spaces, installing large steel beams in the apparatus bay, and continuing masonry work on the living quarters.

The project remains on schedule, with the new Station #1 and remodeled Fire Headquarters expected to be operational by late fall 2027.

๐Ÿš’ Weโ€™re excited to bring the Sound Off program to local schools!

Weโ€™re partnering with Notus Elementary in our rural area, Wilson Elementary in Caldwell School District, and Skyway Elementary in Vallivue School District to help students learn important fire safety skills.

Through four classroom lessons, students will learn about the sounds of home fire dangers, fire escape planning, and the importance of practicing fire drills. Once all four lessons are complete, participating families can receive free smoke detectors installed by our team through the state program.

We also used Fire Prevention Week as an opportunity to share additional safety information, including lithium-ion battery safety. Thanks to our partnership with Stellaโ€™s Ice Cream, students who complete a home fire escape plan and bring it to Stellaโ€™s Ice Cream can enjoy a scoop of ice cream!

Caldwell Fire Department is proud to join four other Idaho fire departments in this statewide effort. Weโ€™re looking forward to working with these schools to help students build life-saving skills and make homes safer!

๐ŸงฏA recent fire we responded to was a reminder of how important it is to have a fire extinguisher and know how to use it! Because the occupants had some and were able to use them, the fire stayed small and contained instead of spreading.

Remember PASS:
* Pull the pin
* Aim at the base of the fire
* Squeeze the handle
* Sweep side to side

Keep your fire extinguisher in the same, easy-to-find spot in case of an emergency. Always call 911 after using an extinguisher, even if the fire appears to be out. Our firefighters have the equipment to check for hidden embers and make sure the fire is completely out.

๐Ÿš’ Join us Thursday, October 29, at 11:00 a.m. for the groundbreaking ceremony for the future Caldwell Fire Station 4.

This project is part of Caldwellโ€™s ongoing investment in public safety and the future of our growing community. The new Station 4 will serve one of Caldwellโ€™s fastest-growing areas and is designed as a shared public safety facility. The addition of this station will help improve emergency response times and strengthen fire and emergency medical services in the area.
