๐ด Officer Dot reported for duty this week at La Adelita Preschool.
Dot, who is one of the horses in our Caldwell Police Mounted Unit stopped by La Adelita Preschool in Farmway Village to spend time with some very special students.
For many children. meeting a police horse is their first interaction with law-enforcement. Moments like these help build positive relationships, create lasting memories, and remind us that community policing starts with connection. ๐ง๐ฆ ๐๐ด๐ฎโโ๏ธ
Thank you to La Adelita Preschool for inviting us to visit. We appreciated the opportunity to spend time with the next generation of Caldwell residents.

The 100 Deadliest Days of Summer are here.
That period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the โ100 Deadliest Days of Summerโ because it is historically one of the most dangerous times of year on our roadways. With schools out, increased travel, more teen drivers, and more people out enjoying summer activities, serious injury and fatal crashes often increase during these months.
During the same period in 2025, we responded to 246 traffic crashes, which included 6 serious injury accidents and 1 fatality. While these numbers are down from the same period in 2024, they can continue improving because most accidents are preventable.
Behind each of these numbers is a person, a family, and a life forever impacted.
So, before you hit the road this summer, please remember to:
โ
Put the phone away. Avoid distractions.
โ
Slow down. Obey speed limits.
โ
Never drive impaired by alcohol or drugs.
โ
Buckle up. Every trip, every time.
โ
Avoid driving when fatigued.
โ
Watch for motorcycles, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
โ
Leave early and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.
One text, one distraction, or one poor decision can change lives forever.
Our goal is simple. We want everyone to enjoy their summer and to make it home safely. ๐

Earlier this month, we dusted off our gloves, grabbed our bats, and took to the field for a friendly softball tournament with our law enforcement partners from across the Treasure Valley. ๐ฅโ๏ธ
While we may not have brought home the championship trophy, we had a great time building relationships, enjoying some friendly competition, and strengthening the partnerships that help us serve our communities every day.
Thank you to the Meridian Police Employee Association (MPEA) for hosting a fantastic event, and thank you to our fellow participants from Meridian Police Department - Idaho, Nampa Police Department, the Ada County Prosecutor's Office, and Idaho Department of Correction Probation & Parole.
Congratulations to Meridian Police Department on bringing home the trophy! ๐
Weโre already looking forward to next year. ๐๐ฅ

This morning, a storm drain turned into an unexpected adventure for eight little ducklings! ๐ฅ๐
After receiving a report of ducklings trapped in a storm drain, CPD Animal Control teamed up with Caldwell Fire Department and responded and successfully rescued the little ones from their underground predicament.
Thanks to the quick response and a little teamwork, the ducklings were safely reunited with their mama and sent on their way.
This rescue was all it was quacked up to be. ๐ฅ๐

Our Mounted Unit was a big hit at the Farmers Market last night!
The horses always enjoy meeting the communityโฆ and apparently so did Caldwell Fire Chief Daniels, who took a test run on Chief Ingramโs horse, Scooby, and may have been testing out a future career in mounted patrol.
Weโre not saying Caldwell Fire is starting their own mounted unitโฆ but weโre also not not saying it. ๐ ๐ด ๐จโ๐ Caldwell Fire Department

As we begin our Memorial Day weekend, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by them and their families.
While many will spend the weekend with family, friends, and barbecues, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. ๐บ๐ธ๐
