Due to ongoing power outages, several county offices are closed until further notice. The Courthouse and Sheriff’s Office remain open.

Affected offices include, but are not limited to, Human Resources, Development Services, the Assessor’s Office, the Clerk’s Office, the Passport Office, and Misdemeanor Probation.

If you have an appointment with any affected office, please call ahead to confirm availability.

🏡 A PROPERTY TAX BENEFIT FOR QUALIFYING DISABLED VETERANS

Canyon County wants to make sure local veterans know about a property tax benefit that may help lower their property taxes.

The Disabled Veterans Property Tax Benefit is available to qualifying Idaho veterans with a 100% service-connected disability. The benefit can reduce property taxes on a veteran’s primary residence and up to one acre of land by as much as $1,500.

💡 There is no income limit for this benefit.

📅 2027 Application Deadline:
Applications must be submitted between January 1 and April 15, 2027.

⚠️ Most veterans need to apply for this benefit every year. However, if a veteran has a disability rated as "Unemployable," their benefit will automatically renew each year. They do not need to reapply.

📄 When applying, veterans will need a current letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs confirming their qualifying disability status.

🏡💰 PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION SEASON IS APPROACHING!

Did you know Idaho has a program that may help eligible homeowners lower their property taxes? It’s called the Property Tax Reduction Program, also known as the Circuit Breaker.

The program provides a property tax reduction for qualifying Idaho homeowners based on household income and other eligibility requirements. The benefit applies to a primary residence and up to one acre of land. 🏠

📅 2027 Application Deadline:
Applications must be submitted between January 1 and April 15, 2027.

⚠️ Important: You must apply every year. The Circuit Breaker is not automatically renewed.

You may qualify if you meet certain income and eligibility requirements, including being 65 or older, widowed, disabled, blind, a qualifying veteran, or another qualifying category.

💡 Planning ahead? Now is a great time to learn more and make sure you have the information you’ll need when applications open.
