Today we had our Warrior Way drawing, and if only you could hear a picture! 👂👏🎉

The amount of positivity and encouragement being shared in this gym was something special! Students were cheering on their classmates, celebrating one another, and showing support even when they may have been hoping to hear their own name called. ❤️

This culture of belonging, kindness, and motivation is fostered by every single staff member in our building, but we have to give some extra credit to our man of the month, Mr. Wahlstrom! October is National Principals Month, after all! 🎉 He leads by example and helps create a school where students feel encouraged, supported, and celebrated. We are so thankful for the positive impact he makes on our Warriors each and every day!

🧡 You may also notice lots of orange in today's pictures as we celebrated Unity Day and the importance of kindness, inclusion, and standing together to prevent bullying. 🧡

Caledonia's Test Results are in:

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments were released to the public on September 30th. The Caledonia Area Public School District has continually improved over the past eight years and ranks as the 15th best district in the state out of 458 school districts, ranking it in the top 5% of all school districts in the state according to SchoolDigger.com and the Minnesota Department of Education’s Minnesota Report Card https://rc.education.mn.gov/ /p--3 .

Scores over the last eight years for each school in the district have steadily increased.

Caledonia Elementary School: Caledonia Elementary School has shown strong test scores over the past eight years. In 2018, the Elementary school ranked in the 75th percentile and in 2026, ranked in the 85th percentile showing a 10% improvement over those eight years.

Caledonia Middle School: Caledonia Middle school has shown significant improvement over the past eight years. In 2018, the Middle School ranked in the 59th percentile and in 2026, ranked in the 95th percentile showing a 36% improvement over those eight years.

Caledonia High School: Caledonia High School scores have also increased significantly over the past eight years. Caledonia High School ranked in the top 57th percentile of high schools in the state. In 2026, Caledonia High School ranked in the 95th percentile showing a 38% improvement over those eight years.

This tool is designed to provide parents, educators, schools, districts and citizens with easy access to test results, revenue and expenditure data, demographic information and other critical data in a centralized location.

Alana is a wonderful student who brings kindness and a helpful spirit to our classroom every day. She shows a strong work ethic and is always willing to ask questions to deepen her understanding! Way to go Alana!

Question 1 includes funding for improved security. This includes improvements at the high school and elementary school.

The school’s door locking system requires upgrades to monitor all entrances, regulate visitors, and better secure the entire school.

Our 5th graders headed up near Winona this morning for a field trip to Pickwick Mill. The students got to explore the mill as a museum and learn about how it originally operated as a mill.

"The Pickwick Mill was built from 1856 to 1858 by Thomas Grant and Wilson Davis and is one of the oldest flour mills found in southeast Minnesota. The mill was a water powered gristmill constructed first as a sawmill, and later converted to a flour mill, on the banks of Big Trout Creek located in Pickwick, Minnesota. It is the first commercial flour mill west of the Mississippi river. The mill ran 24 hours a day during the Civil War and produced 100 barrels daily for the Union Army. After the war, the mill became a flour-milling center for most of southern Minnesota and portions of Iowa and Wisconsin."

The elementary school restrooms will be renovated with funds from Question 1.

Existing restrooms at the elementary school have not been updated in more than 60 years. They have failing plumbing and fixtures and do not meet current Americans with Disability Act (ADA) accessibility code requirements.
