‼️CANCELLED - TODAY’S PATRIOT FAIR PARADE: From the Fair Association:

“The weather is always unpredictable, but after a morning of consultation with our friends at the National Weather Service, various weather radars and our local public safety sources, it currently appears we will have showers up to heavy rain possibly occurring during this mornings parade time frame.

“We must make a decision for our school bands and participants awaiting now to know the plan. We also must consider the safety of all involved.
We will go ahead and CANCEL this mornings Fair and Patriots Day Parade.

“It is disappointing for us and all of the participants, but we must provide a decision for all participating and we appreciate your understanding.

“This year’s fair kicks off at 5 pm nightly through Saturday September 19. We hope you will come out, enjoy the entertainment, rides and fair fun! It only happens once a year here.

“So very sorry for today’s parade cancellation and please understand the extreme difficulty behind these decisions.”

PUBLIC NOTICE -- BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS EXTEND TEMPORARY MORATORIUMS

At last night’s regular meeting, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners voted to extend the temporary moratoriums on data centers and anaerobic digestion facilities through January 29, 2027.

The extension will allow the Board to continue working with staff and attorneys to develop thoughtful draft ordinances that address these type of developments while considering the long-term interests of Gordon County.

We recognize that these are topics of significant public interest and appreciate the community’s engagement. The Board is committed to being as transparent as possible and providing opportunities for public input. At least one town hall will be held during the ordinance development process. We will communicate any of these with the public and local media once they are scheduled.

Public hearings regarding any ordinance proposal will be published in our designated legal organ and on our website. The scheduled public hearing at the July 13th Planning & Zoning Commission meeting regarding these matters has been canceled.
