For the last several years, Ryder and Owen have spent part of their summers raising money for their friends at Shop with a Cop and the amazing work they do to make Christmas a little brighter for local families! What started with lemonade and goodies to raise money for a great cause became something they looked forward to every year. They’ve gotten a little older and officially outgrown the lemonade stand, so this year we’re trying something new to raise funds for their favorite cause!
🎟️ Ryder, Owen, and friends and family of Shop with a Cop are selling tickets for a 50/50 raffle benefiting Moniteau County Sheriff’s Auxiliary-Shop with a Cop!

We’ll have a table set up at the Youth Football games hosted in Tipton - this Saturday, 10/3 - selling tickets, so stop by and check it out!

DRIVING COMPLAINT LEADS TO M**H ARREST

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MONITEAU COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest

CALIFORNIA, MO – On June 5, 2026, deputies with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office responded to a driving complaint involving a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 50 through Moniteau County.

The reporting party advised that the vehicle was swerving and traveling at an unusually slow rate of speed. After passing the vehicle, the complainant reported that the vehicle accelerated, flashed its bright lights, and directed a green laser light toward him.

Deputies located and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near California, Missouri. During the investigation, deputies identified a passenger as Jeffrey A. Milligan, age 53, of Clinton, Missouri. Deputies learned that Milligan was currently on probation/parole for burglary, stealing, and drug-related offenses.

Deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle and discovered a green laser pointer and a syringe concealed in the passenger seating area where Milligan had been seated. Milligan was detained and advised of his rights.

During the investigation, Milligan admitted to possessing methamphetamine concealed on his person. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail. The substance was recovered and field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Jeffrey A. Milligan has been charged with:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Assault – 4th Degree

Milligan is currently being held without bond.

Sheriff Tony Wheatley stated, "The Moniteau County Sheriff's Office remains committed to protecting the citizens of Moniteau County and aggressively pursuing those involved in illegal drug activity. We appreciate the vigilance of the citizen who reported this dangerous driving behavior, which ultimately led to this arrest."

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
