Looks like chance of storms tomorrow. Oh, and more rain.

**OUTDATED POST**

The Weather Prediction Center has introduced a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall across portions of central, southern and western Iowa on Saturday.

Additional rounds of thunderstorms could develop along a nearly stationary boundary, with the potential for storms to repeatedly move over the same areas. This "training" of thunderstorms could produce rainfall totals exceeding 2 inches in some locations, with locally higher amounts possible.

The flooding concern will be greater where heavy rain falls over areas that have already received significant rainfall. Saturated soils could allow runoff to occur more quickly, increasing the potential for scattered flash flooding.

Rain and thunderstorms may be ongoing in parts of Iowa Saturday morning before the threat temporarily decreases. Additional storms could then redevelop later Saturday into Saturday night, particularly across central, southern and western portions of the state.

Not everyone will see flooding, but those underneath repeated thunderstorms could pick up a lot of rain in a relatively short period of time.

We’ll continue watching where the heaviest rainfall corridor sets up and provide updates as higher-resolution guidance comes into better agreement.

If you haven't taken the time to complete the survey please take a few minutes to do so. Getting the Hazard Mitigation Plan together with correct information will help Callender and Webster County qualify for FEMA money in the event of a large natural disaster, and it helps identify critical needs for the community and the surrounding area.

⚠️ MODERATE RISK EXPANDED OVER IOWA TONIGHT

The Weather Prediction Center has expanded the Moderate Risk for excessive rainfall across portions of Iowa overnight, with the greatest concern focused from southwest into central Iowa.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue to expand across the state tonight. Storms may repeatedly move over the same locations — known as training — which could produce significant rainfall totals in a short period of time.

Localized rainfall amounts exceeding 3 inches are possible overnight, according to the latest guidance.

Flash flooding could develop quickly, especially in areas that receive multiple rounds of heavy rain. Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Stay weather-aware overnight and have a way to receive warnings if a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your area.
