SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT US!

Callisburg Methodist Church has been a big supporter of our fire department, and this Saturday it's our turn to show up for them!

๐Ÿ‚ HARVEST SALE: SOUP AND CHILI SUPPER ๐Ÿ‚

Saturday, October 24
123 Oscar Cole Street, Callisburg

Country Store and Silent Auction open at 4:30 PM
Live Auction starts at 7:00 PM

Supper includes the fixings, dessert, and a drink. It's $10 for adults, and kids under 5 eat free!

A portion of the proceeds will benefit a local family who lost everything in a fire. As firefighters, we see firsthand how a fire can turn a family's life upside down overnight, and that's exactly when a community like ours shines.

So skip the cooking Saturday night, grab a bowl of chili, bid on something you probably don't need, and help out a neighbor. Go out and support if you can!

Planned Momentary Outage

Our Power Supplier will perform substation work on Saturday, Oct 24th, starting around 7-8am. The Power Supplier has been working on transmission lines in the area, and this planned outage is necessary for their next steps in working towards improving reliability.

Please report any extended outages to our office at 940-759-2211 or through the member portal.

Thank you for your patience while we help maintain reliable service.

SPACE HEATER SEASON IS HERE!

Those cool Cooke County nights are on the way, and that means the space heaters are coming out of the closet. Before you plug yours in, a few reminders from the National Fire Protection Association:

KEEP IT 3 FEET AWAY from anything that can burn: curtains, bedding, furniture, and yes, the dog bed too.

PLUG IT STRAIGHT INTO THE WALL. Never use an extension cord or power strip.

USE ONE WITH AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF in case it tips over, and keep it on a flat, solid floor.

TURN IT OFF when you leave the room or go to bed.
Firing up the fireplace or furnace for the first time this season? Get it cleaned and inspected first. And please don't heat the house with your oven!

Our volunteers would much rather spend these chilly evenings at home with their families than at your house. Stay warm and stay safe, Callisburg!

Thereโ€™s a new face in the fleet, and this one has been a labor of love!

The Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department is proud to officially introduce Tender 117, a 2004 Peterbilt purchased from the Dodd City Fire Department in Dodd City, Texas!

While the truck itself isnโ€™t brand new, the amount of work that has gone into getting it ready for service has been nothing short of incredible.

BUILT BY DEDICATION, NOT JUST DOLLARS

Since bringing Tender 117 home, our members have spent countless hours performing significant refurbishments in-house to get this truck ready for the front lines. From mechanical work and improvements to a fresh coat of paint and its recently completed striping, this truck has undergone quite the transformation!

This project represents more than just a significant financial investment for our department. It represents evenings, weekends, personal time, and countless hours donated by our volunteer firefighters who are committed to providing the best possible service to our community.

SAYING GOODBYE TO AN OLD FRIEND

Tender 117 replaces a truck that many of you may remember affectionately as โ€œYellow Bird,โ€ our 1994 converted oilfield tank truck.

Yellow Bird served Callisburg faithfully for many years, hauling water to fires and helping protect our community. It may not have been the prettiest truck in the fleet, but it got the job done when it mattered most!

As much as weโ€™ll miss that old yellow truck, Tender 117 represents an important step forward in improving our departmentโ€™s capabilities and equipment.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU!

We want to recognize two local businesses that helped bring this project together:

๐Ÿ‘ PhilCo Industrial Painting โ€” For giving Tender 117 its fresh new paint job!

๐Ÿ‘ Czech6 Sign and Design โ€” For the outstanding graphics and striping that put the finishing touches on this truck!

Your craftsmanship helped turn a hardworking used fire truck into something our department and community can be proud of!

TO OUR COMMUNITY: THANK YOU!

As a volunteer fire department, major equipment investments like this donโ€™t happen without the continued support of our community. Your donations, participation in our fundraisers, and unwavering support make projects like Tender 117 possible.

And to our members who spent their evenings and days off turning wrenches, troubleshooting problems, and putting in the work to get this truck ready โ€” THANK YOU. Your dedication is what makes this department what it is.

๐Ÿš’ 522 CALLS. 365 DAYS. ONE MISSION. ๐Ÿš‘

When our community calls, Callisburg answers!

As September comes to a close, so does another busy fiscal year for the Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department.

During September 2026, our firefighters responded to 41 calls for service, bringing our total to 522 emergency calls for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026!

๐Ÿ“Š SEPTEMBER 2026
๐Ÿš‘ EMS Calls: 23
๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Calls: 12
๐ŸŒพ Grass Fires: 1
๐Ÿš— Motor Vehicle Accidents (No Injuries): 3
๐Ÿšจ Motor Vehicle Accidents (With Injuries): 2
๐Ÿ  Structure Fires: 0

๐Ÿ“ˆ FY 2026 โ€” BY THE NUMBERS
October 1, 2025 โ€“ September 30, 2026

๐Ÿš‘ 318 EMS Calls
๐Ÿ”ฅ 123 Fire Calls
๐ŸŒพ 14 Grass Fires
๐Ÿš— 36 Motor Vehicle Accidents (No Injuries)
๐Ÿšจ 28 Motor Vehicle Accidents (With Injuries)
๐Ÿ  3 Structure Fires

๐Ÿšจ TOTAL: 522 CALLS FOR SERVICE!

But hereโ€™s what those numbers donโ€™t showโ€ฆ

They donโ€™t show the missed family dinners, interrupted holidays, sleepless nights, or the countless times our volunteers have dropped everything to help a neighbor in need.

Our firefighters arenโ€™t sitting at the station waiting for the alarm to sound. Theyโ€™re working regular jobs, raising families, attending school, and living right here in the community they protect.

And when that pager goes off, they answer.

522 calls represent 522 times our community needed help โ€” and our volunteers stepped up to serve.

WE COULDNโ€™T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

As a volunteer department, we rely heavily on donations and community support to keep our trucks running, our equipment maintained, and our firefighters trained and ready.

If youโ€™d like to help us continue protecting our community, please consider making a donation:

To our firefighters, their families, our mutual aid partners, and everyone who supports Callisburg Fire โ€” THANK YOU!

Today, members of the Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department put their firefighting skills to the test at the 3rd Annual Gainesville Fire Association Hose-Off Tournament!

Our crew battled it out against fellow firefighters, putting their teamwork, communication, and nozzle skills to work! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

Representing Callisburg Fire:

๐Ÿš’ Captain Jimmy McMains
๐Ÿš’ Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Kundrock
๐Ÿš’ Probationary Firefighter Aaron Gleaton
๐Ÿš’ Firefighter Nick Montgomery

It was a great day of friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and some good old-fashioned firefighter camaraderie!

A big thank you to the Gainesville Fire Association for hosting another great event and bringing firefighters from across the area together!

And letโ€™s be honestโ€ฆ thereโ€™s nothing quite like a bunch of firefighters getting together to argue about who knows how to handle a hose better! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ฆ

Great job, guys! Proud to represent Callisburg! ๐Ÿš’
