🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET — 9/11/2001 🇺🇸

Today, the Calvert Police Department stands with our community and our nation as we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken that day and the incredible bravery of the law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, and everyday Americans who ran toward danger to help others.

We remember the families who lost loved ones, the survivors whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders who continued to sacrifice in the years that followed.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, service, and sacrifice remain forever in our hearts.

May September 11 always remind us that even during our darkest moments, courage can overcome fear, service can overcome tragedy, and unity can make us stronger.

WE REMEMBER. 🇺🇸
WE HONOR.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

ALERT....This morning, around 8:30 A.M., a building on the corner of Main St. and W. Mitchell St. collapsed. The building was vacant and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

A witness saw the collapse as it happened. He said it was loud, and a big plume of dust spread out into Main St., but it did not cause a traffic hazard. A vehicle parked next to the building on W. Mitchell St. sustained heavy damage as bricks from the building fell on it.

At this time, access to W. Mitchell St. from Main St. is temporarily closed until the debris from the collapse has been removed. The walkway in the area has been blocked to pedestrian traffic due to the hazard of the remaining structure.
