Today, we honor and celebrate the remarkable career of Police Chief Drake Massey as he retires after 38 years of dedicated service in law enforcement.

Chief Massey's career has been defined by integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Throughout his distinguished career, he proudly served the Tulare County Sheriff's Department, Delano Police Department, Kern County Sheriff's Department, CSU Bakersfield Police Department, and concluded his service as the Chief of Police at CSUCI’s Police Department.

Over nearly four decades, Chief Massey has led with compassion, mentored countless officers and staff, strengthened partnerships with the communities he served, and worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of others. His leadership has left a lasting impact on every organization fortunate enough to have him on its team.

As Chief Massey closes this chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for his years of service, leadership, and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. Please join us in congratulating Chief Drake Massey on an extraordinary career and wishing him and his family all the best in a well-earned retirement.

Today we were honored to welcome Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko and Chief Investigator Scott Whitney to campus as they stopped by to congratulate Chief Drake Massey on his upcoming retirement. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to recognize Chief Massey's outstanding career and thank him for his years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to the safety of our campus community.

We are grateful for the partnership we've shared with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office over the years.

We are proud to announce that the CSU Channel Islands Police Department has been awarded IACLEA Accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). This prestigious recognition reflects our department’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence in serving the CSU Channel Islands community.

Accepting the accreditation on behalf of the department were Chief Drake Massey, Sergeant Garrett Brownfield, and Accreditation Manager John Reid.

Achieving IACLEA accreditation is a significant milestone that recognizes our dedication to meeting nationally recognized best practices in campus public safety.

The CI Department is proud to join our fellow Ventura County law enforcement partners in this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the "Flame of Hope" in support of Special Olympics athletes throughout our community.

Our officers are honored to run alongside agencies from across Ventura County, helping raise awareness and support for the incredible athletes who inspire us through their courage, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Together, we are committed to building a more inclusive community and celebrating the achievements of Special Olympics participants.

Please join us in cheering on all the runners and athletes as the Flame of Hope makes its journey through Ventura County and onward to the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games.
