Camarillo Health Care District provides compassionate, confidential conversation and emotional support over the telephone. Personnel trained in resources and referrals are ready to speak with you to offer encouragement and connection. Following the first call, weekly check-in calls can be scheduled. We hope to see you on Oct. 29 for a one-stop shop for people living with a dementia-related disease and their caregivers. This is a free event that will feature local organizations, government agencies and businesses that can help answer your questions and connect you to resources. Visit our campus, 3639 Las Posas Road, in Camarillo between 10 a.m. and noon.

Seniors and their family members are eligible for two one-hour free consultations each fiscal year at Camarillo Health Care District with a local, volunteer attorney experienced in these and related legal matters:
*Estate planning
*Conservatorship
*Probate
*Special needs
*Family law and estate cross-over issues
*Automobile law
If more needs to be done, such as a trust amendment or court petition, the attorney and client can discuss the costs of those steps and separate arrangements can be made. We have four virtual appointments available in December. Call Camarillo Health Care District at 805-388-1952 for one of those spots. Life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes we could use a little help getting around, either a hand up, an arm to lean on ... or even someone to drive us to medical service appointments! Camarillo Health Care District offers door-through-door CARE-A-VAN Transportation Services for non-emergency medical appointments and other activities of daily living. Drivers are trained in CPR and first aid, and have additional sensitivity training in transporting frail, elderly, cognitively- and mobility-challenged riders. We will travel to the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Louvre Museum, MoMA The Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Museums of the U.S. National Mall and National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Meet with victim advocate Debbie Deem, retired victim specialist with the FBI and former coordinator of the Financial Abuse Specialist Team, part of the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, for one-on-one coaching on how to avoid being scammed by fraudsters and what to do if you have been. This will be fun! While wearing a headset and holding a pair of controllers, join us for our Virtual Reality Independent Adventures experience. We offer a variety of applications, from Guided Tai Chi and meditation to scuba diving, sky diving, kayaking, roller coasters, exploration of national parks and iceberg climbing to relaxing moments in nature, cooking ancient recipes and more. We provide the equipment and guidance. Join us 2-3 p.m. Oct. 29, 3-4 p.m. Nov. 17 or 10-11 a.m. Dec. 7. We also have beginners classes, a VR Travel Club, World Galleries and Museums exploration, Mindfulness & Meditation (all beginner level), and more.
