𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔, 𝐂𝐎𝐖 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐊 𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐔𝐌𝐏𝐐𝐔𝐀 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐒!

Camas Valley Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians for their generous $11,000 donation to our department.

Thanks to their support, we will be purchasing and installing six new commercial electric garage door openers for our apparatus bays. This project will significantly improve firefighter safety and reduce our emergency response times by allowing our volunteers to quickly open and close our bay doors when responding to emergencies.

Currently, several of our bay doors must be operated manually, requiring firefighters to spend valuable time opening and closing them during emergency responses. With the new electric openers, our crews will be able to get on the road faster while also ensuring our station is secured after responding to calls. The new openers also include modern safety features, such as pressure sensors and photo-eye sensors, helping protect our firefighters, visitors, and equipment.

Support from community partners like the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians makes projects like this possible and directly strengthens the emergency services we provide to the Camas Valley community.

From all of our volunteers, thank you for your continued investment in the safety of our firefighters and the citizens we proudly serve!

DFPA NEWS RELEASE: Due to the forecast of increased, above-normal temperatures, decreased relative humidity, and reduced overnight moisture recovery, the fire danger level will rise to HIGH. Effective Saturday, July 11, at 12:01 a.m., Public Use Restrictions (PURs) will increase to HIGH for all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District, imposing certain fire restrictions on the public to help prevent wildfires.
What does this change mean to the public?

Non-industrial power saw usage, the cutting, grinding, or welding of metal, the cutting, trimming, or mowing of dried, cured grass, and power-driven machinery for non-industrial improvement or development on private property will only be allowed BEFORE 10 AM or AFTER 8 PM.

At this time, there will be no change to the Industrial Fire Precaution Levels. They will remain at IFPL2, districtwide.

Fire season is here, and everyone has a role in preventing wildfires. Remember, debris burning is prohibited. Campfires are only allowed at designated sites, and fireworks, exploding targets, tracer am******on, and sky lanterns are prohibited. Smoke only in enclosed vehicles on improved roads, boats on the water, or other designated locations. Keep vehicles on improved roads, carry the required firefighting tools, and use charcoal or pellet barbecues only at maintained residential home sites with water or a fire extinguisher nearby.

One spark can change everything. Follow fire season restrictions, use caution with outdoor activities, and help reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires. Keep Oregon Green.

With fire season already shaping up to be drier than normal, we wanted to provide our community with an opportunity to learn how to better protect their homes and property from wildfire.

Join us on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝟓:𝟑𝟎 𝐏𝐌 at the Camas Valley Rural Fire District for a free community presentation on defensible space and home hardening. We are pleased to welcome a Fire Risk Reduction Specialist from the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office, who will provide a 40-minute presentation covering practical steps homeowners can take to reduce wildfire risk around their homes.

Topics will include creating effective defensible space, reducing hazards on your property, and making improvements that can help your home better withstand a wildfire. Educational handouts and resources will be available for attendees to take home and use on their own properties.

Whether you own a home, rent, or manage property in our area, this presentation offers valuable information that can help you prepare before wildfire activity increases. We encourage everyone in the community to attend, ask questions, and learn what steps can be taken now to help protect lives, homes, and property.

The Camas Valley Volunteer Fire Department is looking for at least four unwanted vehicles to use for our upcoming extrication training.

Over the next month, our firefighters will be conducting weekly vehicle extrication training, practicing the skills needed to safely rescue victims trapped in crashed vehicles. These hands-on trainings are one of the best ways to prepare our newer volunteers for real emergencies.

We're looking for:
• Cars, SUVs, or small pickups
• Any condition, running or not
• Wrecked, worn out, or simply no longer wanted

We'll make it easy!
✅ Our volunteers can pick up the vehicle from your property.
✅ We can provide a tax receipt for the vehicle's scrap value as a charitable donation.

Instead of sending your old vehicle straight to the scrapyard, consider donating it to help train the firefighters who may one day save a life.

If you have a vehicle you'd like to donate or have any questions, please text or call James Beans at 541-430-5453, or call our fire station at 541-445-2207

Thank you for supporting your local volunteer firefighters and helping us keep our training realistic, our skills sharp, and our community safe!

*Warning* your car will be completely destroyed.

This past Monday, our volunteers partnered with Douglas County Motorsports Fire Rescue in preparation for the upcoming Camas Valley Sand Drags event.

During the training, firefighters learned about the unique hazards associated with methanol and alcohol-fueled race vehicles, as well as the proper procedures for extinguishing these fires using specialized Purple K dry chemical extinguishers and foam. Volunteers also discussed race event operations, firefighter safety, and emergency response procedures specific to motorsports incidents.

We are excited to have Douglas County Motorsports Fire Rescue assisting us during this year's event. Their expertise and experience in motorsports fire protection will help ensure a safe and successful weekend for racers, spectators, and volunteers alike.

Training like this allows our members to continually expand their skills and prepare for the unique emergencies we may encounter in our community. We appreciate the time and knowledge shared by the instructors and look forward to working together at the Camas Valley Sand Drags later this summer.
