Crime and violence is a major problem in our community. I believe a big contributor to that is Maryland juvenile justice laws.
At last night‘s Council meeting, I made the motion for juvenile justice reform to be put on our list of legislative topics to discuss with our state legislators when they meet with us at an upcoming Council meeting.
It’s been on the agenda before, and all of our District 37 legislators understand.
We have to keep bringing it up because the crime, the violence, the car thefts, and more are happening constantly.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, a citizen stood up and said that a family member of his was held at gunpoint, and again very recently had gunfire near his house.
This is unacceptable! No one in any part of this county should have to the face danger because of bad laws. No child who is making dangerous decisions should be repetitively be put back in the same situation! It’s harmful for everyone!
