We were excited to welcome Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley to learn more about EZRide, a fare-free shuttle connecting Cambridgeport, Kendall Square, Lechmere, and Boston’s North Station!

During her visit, she met with the team and hopped on board to talk with fellow riders and hear about their experiences with fare-free transit.

The CRA is proud that the KSTEP Fund has helped launch the expansion of fare-free service on EZRide, improving access to Kendall Square for employees, neighbors, and visitors from across the region.

Neighbors, families, and community members came together to paint a mural and learn more about the future of the site.

We’re grateful to everyone who picked up a brush, shared ideas, and helped make the day special. We look forward to continuing the conversation with the community as we plan for the future of 2400 Mass Ave.

☀️ Solar power is coming to 17 affordable housing properties across Cambridge!

Through the CRA Revolving Loan Fund, we’re supporting Just A Start’s solar initiative, helping bring rooftop solar to affordable housing units across their portfolio 🌱

The completed installations will add 338 kW of solar capacity and are expected to generate approximately 370,000 kWh of electricity each year.

Beyond reducing emissions, the project will help stabilize energy costs across Just A Start’s affordable housing portfolio. Over the next 20 years, it is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 3,200 tons.

It’s a project where climate action and affordable housing come together, helping make Cambridge’s housing more sustainable and resilient for the long term 🌱

The CRA has acquired the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House (MFNH) parking lot at the intersection of Pine and Eaton Streets, marking an important step toward creating new mixed-income homeownership opportunities in The Port.

The site is part of the CRA’s commitment to support the creation of 20,000 square feet of below-market homeownership housing in Cambridge and advances goals outlined in the Central Square Demonstration Plan.

Next, the CRA will explore development concepts for the site and begin a community engagement process this winter to hear from neighbors and community members about the future of the property.

The acquisition also builds on a longstanding partnership between the CRA and Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House, with proceeds from the sale supporting continued investment in MFNH’s historic building and the essential programs and services it provides to the community.

✨ Intern Spotlight: Meet Valeria Purilla, Our Communications & Graphic Design Intern! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Valeria to the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA) team!

Valeria is currently pursuing her Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communication at Lasell University, building on her background in design and marketing. During her internship, Valeria will support our communications manager with graphic design, social media, and community engagement efforts. 📣🎨

Outside of work, Valeria enjoys traveling, painting, and staying active. Fun fact: Before pursuing a career in marketing and communications, she spent many years training and performing as a ballet dancer!

We’re so happy to have Valeria as part of the CRA team and can’t wait to see all she contributes during her internship!

🚧 Construction at 1175 Cambridge Street continues to move forward!

Work on the new front porch is advancing, including improvements that will support the future storefronts and building access. Inside, construction is also progressing as the retail spaces take shape ahead of tenant buildout and final finishes.

With construction continuing on track, we’re looking ahead to the next exciting step: introducing the new businesses that will be in our storefronts.
