Ok, this amazing family is next in line, and it's getting really close to being done... BUT I had to post this photo first! Not only is it absolutely SAAAAWWWWEEET, and I absolutely LOVE supporting our police in our community, but I wanted to talk about this one.
Nate and his wife Heather aren't just clients to me...they're dear, dear friends. I know some of you may remember what happened back in 2022 when they lost their home in a devastating fire. But it wasn't just their home. They also lost Nate's K9 partner, Kyro, along with their two other beloved dogs, Miah and Ekko. My heart still breaks thinking about everything they went through. It was unimaginable. Nate and Heather talked a lot of that day and the months after, after our session was over. It was a lot they went through and non of it was easy!
So now... the day is finally here, and I'm so excited to share this.
Meet Meeko the newest K9 to the Isanti County Sheriff's team!!!!
I absolutely LOVE how they chose his name. It's made up from the names of the three dogs they lost, Miah, Ekko, and Kyro. Meeko carries a little piece of each of them with him, and I honestly can't think of a more beautiful way to honor the dogs that meant so much to their family. Their memories will always be part of his journey and it touched my heart so much!!!
Nate, I couldn't be more proud and happy for you!!! I'm proud that you never let tragedy steal your dream. Proud of the heart you have, and so proud of the incredible handler you are. You are totally meant to do this, it's your calling and you are so amazing with your dogs.
NOW not only does he have Meeko, but they also have retired K9 Maverick too (who is in some of the family photos, I'll share later) Mav was just retired this past Aug, and they also have a family dog too, Cody (you'll see him in the photos too) such a sweet boy.
But, Meeko... welcome to the community, buddy! You already have so many people cheering you on, and I know you're going to do amazing things alongside your partner. I can't wait to watch the bond the two of you build and see all the good you'll do together. And thank you for being such a good boy for me too! I do have to tell ya, photographing a Police dog is pretty intimidating, but man it's so cool too!
Congratulations, my friends. This is more than just getting another K9. It's hope. It's healing. It's honoring the past while embracing the future!!!
Now go make Kyro, Miah, and Ekko proud, good boy.
Heather Fisher I'm working hard to getting your photos done, there's a lot!
