Community Announcement: Kershaw County Parks & Recreation Weather Notice
Dear Residents,
Please be advised that all athletic fields are strictly closed during rainstorms and periods of heavy rain expected to begin late this evening, Friday, 10/9/2026, through Sunday evening, 10/11/2026.
Staying off the turf and grass when wet is critical for two key reasons:
Safety: Wet grass and muddy terrain significantly increase the risk of slips, falls, and injuries.
Field Preservation: Using the fields when saturated causes severe turf damage, deep rutting, and soil compaction. Staying off the grounds during wet conditions helps prevent long-term damage and keeps our facilities in top shape for everyone to enjoy once they dry out.
Fields will reopen once weather conditions improve and staff have determined the grounds are safe for use. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us protect community assets and maintain high-quality play areas.
Kershaw County Parks and Recreation is actively monitoring local weather reports to ensure the safety of all park visitors and facility users.
We are continuously evaluating current conditions. Should severe weather or unsafe conditions necessitate facility alterations or park closures, we will promptly share updates across our official platforms.
We encourage everyone to exercise caution and stay weather-aware while enjoying local outdoor spaces. Thank you for your understanding, support, cooperation and patience!
