🔥 FIRE PREVENTION MONTH IS ALMOST HERE! 🔥

The boxes are packed, the materials are ready, and our crews are getting excited to visit our local schools and preschools for Fire Prevention Month! 🚒👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

This year’s theme is:

⚡🦸 “Safe Charging is a Superpower!” 🦸⚡

Throughout Fire Prevention Month, our firefighters will be teaching children important fire and life-safety lessons, including how to stay safe around lithium-ion batteries. These batteries power many of the things we use every day—phones, tablets, laptops, toys, e-bikes, scooters and more—but damaged batteries or improper charging can create a serious fire hazard.

🔋 Remember these lithium-ion battery safety tips:

* Always use the charging cord and equipment recommended by the manufacturer.
* Never charge devices under pillows, blankets or on beds and couches.
* Keep charging devices where air can circulate around them.
* Stop using a battery if you notice swelling, unusual heat, leaking, strange odors, popping/hissing sounds or a change in shape or color.
* Never throw lithium-ion batteries in household trash or regular recycling. Use an approved battery recycling or disposal location.
* If a battery begins smoking or catches fire, get out, stay out and call 911.

🏫 Thank you to our local schools and preschools for welcoming Mid-County Fire Protection District into your classrooms and allowing us the opportunity to teach this vital safety information to your students.

🚒 Thank you to our firefighters who give their time throughout Fire Prevention Month—not only visiting classrooms and teaching our kids, but also helping prepare and pack all of these materials.

❤️ And a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to our amazing community sponsors! Every one of the materials pictured here that will be placed into the hands of our local children was made possible through your generosity and support. Your sponsorship allows us to reach hundreds of children with information that can truly save lives. We could not do this without you!

Fire prevention starts with education, and we are incredibly grateful to have a community that continues to invest in the safety of our children.

🚒 Welcome to Mid-County, Captain Aaron Greathouse! 🚒

Mid-County Fire Protection District is proud to officially welcome Captain Aaron Greathouse to our department!

Captain Greathouse was sworn in by Board Chairman McElyea and had the special honor of being pinned by his wife and daughters.

While Captain Greathouse is new to the MCFPD family, he comes to us with valuable fire service experience from St. Robert Fire Department, Licking Volunteer Fire Department, Doolittle Fire Protection District, and Rolla Rural Fire Protection District. His experience, knowledge, and commitment to the fire service will be a great addition to our department and leadership team.

We look forward to the experience Captain Greathouse will bring to our crews and to seeing him serve the citizens and visitors of the Mid-County Fire Protection District.

Please join us in giving Captain Aaron Greathouse and his family a warm welcome to MCFPD! 👏🚒

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, Mid-County Fire Protection District joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the 2,977 lives lost that day, including the 343 FDNY firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other first responders who answered the call without hesitation. They ran toward danger while others were running to safety—demonstrating courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to serve others.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their bravery, their families, and all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of September 11.

For those of us in the fire service, 343 is more than a number. It represents brothers and sisters who gave everything in service to others. Their sacrifice continues to remind us of the responsibility and privilege that comes with wearing the uniform.

May we always remember the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

🇺🇸 Never Forget. Always Remember. 🇺🇸
