POLITICS SECOND. TEXAS FIRST.

Outgoing Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and Democratic nominee for Agriculture Commissioner Clayton Tucker joined MS NOW Live with Katy Tur today in Austin earlier today to discuss the rising threat of hyperscale data centers and their effect on the Texas midterm elections.

Miller is a Republican conservative. Tucker is a Democrat populist. They disagree on many things.

But if it comes to protecting Texas, they are standing shoulder to shoulder.

They both warn that without adequate statutory safeguards the unchecked expansion of hyperscale data centers threatens to destroy our water supplies, electric grid, agricultural land and rural communities.

Their message cuts across party lines:

Texas' water, land and future are too important to be sacrificed to uncontrolled corporate expansion.

Other parties. Common ground. One Texas to defend.

Apparently, Ken Paxton’s idea of “law and order” includes ringing in the new year in Dubai with people wanted by U.S. authorities. 🙃

The Wall Street Journal reports that video shows Texas’ attorney general celebrating New Year’s Eve 2024 at a gathering attended by TWO fugitives already indicted on federal healthcare fraud charges.

One of them, Anosh Ahmed, reportedly donated $190,000 to Paxton’s campaign—including $25,000 days after his indictment.

The charges remain allegations, and the video doesn’t establish what Paxton knew. But Texans deserve answers: What did he know, and why was our top law enforcement official celebrating alongside these men?

“Political persecution” is not an answer.

Texas deserves an attorney general whose judgment we can trust. This deserves scrutiny, not another shrug.

It’s almost time to head to the polls. Have you made your voting plan?

10/08/2026

I sat down this afternoon with KRXT 98.5 FM in Rockdale for a brief interview. KRXT is Real Country!

We hope you’ll tune in and hear directly why I'm is running for Texas House District 17 and why rural communities deserve a stronger voice in Austin.

Early voting runs October 19-30. Election Day is November 3.

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Klenz for Texas House District 17.

We need to pay attention to this.

Tina Peters reportedly met with Trump in the Oval Office this week to discuss election plans. Now her attorney, Peter Ticktin, has publicly described a proposal to seize ballots nationwide for a hand recount—and discussed martial law and strategy for a potential civil war. (coloradonewsline.com, newrepublic.com)

In a podcast interview, Ticktin said it would be better if a civil war occurred under martial law “with our side in control of the armaments.” Reuters also reported that he has advocated a national emergency or potentially martial law over alleged foreign interference in voting machines. (newrepublic.com, reuters.com)

We do not have confirmation that civil war strategy was discussed in the Oval Office. But we DO have public remarks from Peters’s attorney entertaining that possibility while advocating federal control over elections.

That should alarm Americans across the political spectrum. Elections belong to the voters. Losing seats does not justify seizing ballots, invoking martial law, or using military power to hold onto political power.

Accepting an election result—even when your side loses—is a basic requirement of democracy.

Austin ISD changed high school bus service to save money. Now rising diesel prices threaten to wipe out those savings.

The district expected its new bus hubs to save $1.8 million. But it now projects transportation will cost $1.9 million more than planned because of fuel prices. In the first month of school alone, Austin ISD spent 95% more on diesel than it did during the same period last year.

Bus service affects whether students can get to school and how families arrange their days. When diesel prices climb this high, the cost doesn’t stop at the pump. Texas families and public schools feel it too.

Lower enrollment and higher transportation costs came into focus during Thursday’s AISD board meeting.
