📖 40 Years of Stories | Camp Verde
We’re celebrating 40 years of Camp Verde’s incorporation through stories and photos submitted by community members. This Halloween memory comes from Nancy Floyd.
🎃 In 2011, the line for a good scare stretched all the way to Main Street.
For that year’s Trunk or Treat, the Camp Verde Historical Society turned the historic 1933 Rock Jail on Hollamon Street into a free haunted jail.
And Nikki Miller of Camp Verde Promotions had a surprise waiting inside.
For three hours, Nikki hid beneath a dark cloth in a coffin. Visitors walked past without realizing anyone was in there. As they headed back toward the front door, she reached out and touched them.
Cue the screams… and then the laughter! 😂
Word spread, and so did the line. A historic building, some committed volunteers and one very patient Halloween enthusiast gave Camp Verde a night to remember.
Did you brave the haunted jail in 2011? Were you one of Nikki’s unsuspecting visitors? We want to hear your story!
Thank you, Nancy, for sharing the story and photos!
