Officers at the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department received their biennial POST First Aid, CPR, and AED training - just in time for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month!

Our Community Education team had the pleasure of training 30 officers earlier this month through a partnership that began in 2015. Training covered CPR for all ages, AED operation, tourniquets, chest seals, wound bandaging, and patient assessments. Seamless collaboration between firefighters, paramedics, and police officers helps save lives when seconds count.

You don't need a badge to save a life. SCCFD offers both Hands-Only CPR/AED classes and On-Demand CPR Certification to give you the confidence to act in an emergency.

Take the pledge to learn CPR this month: Visit sccfd.org to register!

Emergency pre-planning helps firefighters keep your communities safe.

Daily training and hazard familiarization are a routine part of regular shifts for SCCFD firefighters. Beyond responding to emergency calls, our crews dedicate time to mastering skills and studying local buildings.

High-rise structures present unique challenges during an emergency. Fire Captain Dave Mayfield recently led engine and truck crews through on-site familiarization and pre-plan updates at the Pruneyard campus in Campbell.

Firefighters walked the towers alongside facility management to review building layouts, verify Fire Department Connections (FDCs), and test high-pressure basement pumps that supply water to top floors.

Continuous training and evaluating identified target hazards ensure our firefighters stay sharp, prepared, and ready to respond when seconds count.

Special thanks to the Pruneyard team for partnering with us to keep our community safe!

Fall is here, and so were we at two awesome community events this past Saturday!

We teamed up with Santa Clara County Firefighters for a day of fun and community connection at the San Martin Airport Food Truck Fly-In . While Local 1165 kept the crowd smiling with their delicious chili, community education staff and firefighters were on hand to meet neighbors, answer questions, and share vital fire and life safety tips so everyone walked away a little safer!

We were also excited to visit the Oktoberfest again! We look forward to this local favorite each year and the opportunity to connect with families, showcase our fire engines, and chat about seasonal safety.

Opportunities like these are at the heart of what we do. We love meeting the community members we serve, answering your questions, and helping keep Santa Clara County safe and prepared.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello!

On Saturday, October 17, SCCFD teamed up with the NorCal Women in Fire Service to inspire the next generation of firefighters attending the First Alarm Girls+ Fire Camp at the Hayward Regional Training Center.

Our firefighters helped lead and mentor campers through a weekend packed with hands-on training. Participants got to hear more about a career in the fire service and got hands-on experience by practicing forcible entry, pulling hose lines, climbing ground and aerial ladders, and earning their CPR certifications, all while building confidence and teamwork skills.

Events like this are about much more than firefighting tools, they’re about introducing young people to career paths they may not have imagined for themselves and showing them that there is a place for them in the fire service.

Thank you to NorCal Women in the Fire Service and Hayward Fire News for including us in such an empowering, inclusive experience for our future leaders!

INCIDENT UPDATE & COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT: Suspicious Fires Along Prospect Road – Suspect At Large

On Friday, October 16 at approximately 5:22 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of an unknown male starting several small fires along Prospect Road near Merida Drive in the City of Saratoga, CA .

Firefighters arrived to find brush, property fencing, and a power pole on fire, directly threatening two nearby homes. Thanks to the quick reporting from a passerby and a swift response by firefighters, the fires were contained and extinguished before spreading to the homes, and no injuries were reported.
