October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the members of Canandaigua Emergency Squad are once again coming together to support a cause that means so much to our community!

Each year, our agency holds an internal T-shirt fundraiser, giving our members the opportunity to get creative, submit their own designs, and vote on a winning shirt!

Designed by our members. Chosen by our members. Worn for a cause.

Throughout the month of October, you’ll see our crews proudly wearing this year’s winning designs as we help raise awareness and show our support for those affected by breast cancer.

All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be donated to Embrace Your Sisters, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance and support to individuals battling breast cancer.

We are incredibly proud of our members for continuing this annual tradition and demonstrating that our commitment to caring for our community extends far beyond the ambulance.

Canandaigua Emergency Squad is proud to announce the promotion of three members to the rank of Lieutenant:

Lieutenant Joshua Brown, Paramedic
Lieutenant Zachary Terwilliger, Critical Care Paramedic
Lieutenant Brian MacMillan, Paramedic

As part of their transition into their new leadership roles, our newest Lieutenants recently completed a comprehensive two-day Initial Officer Training Program alongside Lieutenant Arnold LaRocca.

The program focused on the fundamentals of leadership and supervision, an overview of the EMS system and the responsibilities that come with serving as an officer, agency-specific operational topics, personnel and crew management, and scenario-based exercises designed to prepare our officers for the challenges and decisions they may encounter in the field.

Becoming an officer is about more than a new title. It means accepting greater responsibility for our crews, our patients, our organization, and the communities we serve. We are excited to see each of these individuals continue to grow as leaders and help guide the future of Canandaigua Emergency Squad.

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenants Brown, Terwilliger, and MacMillan on their promotions and wishing all four of our Lieutenants continued success in their leadership roles!

The members of Canandaigua Emergency Squad extend our heartfelt sympathies to our colleagues at Wayne County EMS as they mourn the tragic loss of one of their own.

Words can never truly ease the pain of such a profound loss, but we hope that, in time, the memories shared, lives touched, and moments spent together will bring some measure of comfort and peace.

Our thoughts are with the entire Wayne County EMS family, as well as the family, friends, and loved ones of their fallen member during this incredibly difficult time.

A Special Visit That Made Our Day

If you think about it, nobody usually calls for us because they’re having a good day… unless, of course, you’re about to deliver a baby!

On July 30, 2026, Bennett Aldridge made his grand entrance into the world, and some of our crew members pictured below were fortunate enough to be there to help welcome him.

Recently, Bennett, his parents, Brianna and Caleb, and his siblings, Grayson and Sienna, made a special trip to visit the crew who helped that day. They even brought everyone a very nice lunch!

It's no secret that EMS comes with plenty of tough days and difficult calls, but moments like this are a reminder of why we do what we do. Having the opportunity to reconnect with the people whose lives we’ve touched—and to see a happy, healthy Bennett surrounded by his family—means more to our crews than we can put into words.

Congratulations to Brianna and Caleb, big brother Grayson, big sister Sienna, and of course, Bennett!

Thank you for taking the time to come visit us, introduce Bennett to the crew, and share such a special moment. You truly made our day!

Congratulations, Khristeen Sproul!

Canandaigua Emergency Squad is proud to congratulate Khristeen Sproul, Volunteer Paramedic/NP, on successfully completing the Certified Ambulance Documentation Specialist (CADS) course!

The CADS program represents a proactive approach to strengthening EMS documentation, helping ensure patient care reports are accurate, complete, compliant, and effectively support both patient care and the reimbursement process.

Khristeen continues to demonstrate an incredible commitment to EMS, education, and our organization. In addition to serving our community as a Volunteer Paramedic, she is also a regional EMS preceptor, CPR instructor, our Volunteer Coordinator, and a member of our Billing Review Team.

Her dedication to mentoring providers, supporting our volunteers, and helping improve documentation and quality throughout our organization makes this certification a great addition to the many ways she contributes to our agency.

Congratulations, Khristeen!
