George L. Fordyce Park is a hotspot for migrating birds! 🐦

The Nelson’s sparrow is making its seasonal migration, and George L. Fordyce Park has recorded more sightings of this species than anywhere else in the county. Even more impressive, Nelson’s sparrows have been spotted here every year since 2017!

High-quality wetlands provide essential stopover habitat where migrating birds can rest and refuel during their journeys. An important reminder of how valuable these habitats are to wildlife.
