Sept. 20th, 31 years ago, Shepherd’s Center — now CVSC — was formed. It started as a senior center.

But it became so much more.
It became celebrations and holiday dinners.
It became craft rooms full of laughter and quilt-making.
It became volunteers lending a hand, working the fair, and checking in on each other.
It became walking groups, card groups, exercise classes, pickleball and music — from the Ensemble performing, to sing-alongs.
It became catch-ups with old friends over coffee time. A place where strangers became friends.

The coffee. The conversations. The familiar faces. The speakers we learn from.
All the small things that make a community feel like home.

Thank you for choosing us, supporting us, volunteering, and growing with us for 31 years.
We wouldn’t be here without you.
Cheers to 31 years of small moments that meant everything.

🪗🎶 WARM UP THOSE VOCAL CORDS: LIVE MUSIC AT OKTOBERFEST! 🇩🇪🍺
What’s a real Bavarian bash without lively polkas and high-energy drinking songs?

We are thrilled to welcome the Cannon Valley Ensemble to Tilion on Saturday, September 26th at 4:00 PM! They’ll be supplying the ultimate Oktoberfest soundtrack—bringing all the brass, accordion vibes, and classic German drinking tunes to turn the taproom into a full-blown Munich b**r hall. 🎺🥁

🗣️ STUDY GUIDE: "EIN PROSIT!"
When the band starts playing Ein Prosit, everyone raises a stein! Don't worry if your German is a little rusty—we made a handy cheat sheet right on this graphic so you can sing along like a pro:

🎶 German Lyrics:
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Oans, zwoa, drei! G’suffa!

🍻 English Translation:
A toast, a toast to cheer and good times!
A toast, a toast to cheer and good times!
One, two, three! Drink up!

Coffee Time guest speaker today: Mitch Althoff

Thank you, Mitch for telling us your family history and how Althoff Hardware all came about.

Mitch shared the story of this incredible multigenerational endeavor — Althoff Hardware.

Owned and operated by four generations of Althoffs, it all started when William Althoff moved to Cannon Falls from Johnson, MN in 1933. He bought an existing hardware store and stayed in the same location ever since.
William → Oliver → John → Mitch, who took over in 2015.

The store closed in 2025. But the Althoff legacy continues with their new adventure: Althoff Floral, now managed by Mike Althoff!

We’re grateful for the Althoff family’s decades of service to Cannon Falls. Stop by and wish them well!
