🇺🇸 **September 11th — We Remember**

Today, Canton EMS pauses to remember the lives lost and the families forever changed on September 11, 2001.

We honor the 2,977 innocent people who never made it home, as well as the brave firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, and other first responders who ran toward danger to help others. Many made the ultimate sacrifice, and countless more have carried the physical and emotional scars of that day ever since.

September 11th reminds us of the courage, compassion, and selflessness that can emerge in the face of unimaginable tragedy. It is a reminder of why we serve, why we answer the call, and why we stand ready to help our neighbors when they need us most.

Today, we remember the fallen, honor the heroes, and hold their families in our thoughts.

If we cannot gain enough interest for HCC to bring a class to Canton, Butler Community College is putting on an EMT class in Marion County this Spring Semester! This class in generally held in Marion right off of Hwy 56!

Plenty of opportunities to learn the skills needed to be able to serve this wonderful community in the most selfless way 🥰

Have you ever thought about becoming an Emergency Medical Technician? Now may be the perfect time to take that first step!

Hutchinson Community College is looking to bring an EMT course to Canton, KS! This is a semester-long course worth 12 college credit hours and will provide the education, hands-on training, and skills needed to begin your journey as an EMT.

💰 STATE & GRANT FUNDING MAY BE AVAILABLE to help with tuition costs. Funding eligibility requirements may apply, so be sure to ask about available opportunities!

📍 And here's where YOU come in: If we can generate enough local interest, HCC will put on the course right here in Canton!

Canton EMS is actively looking for volunteers who want to serve their community and become part of the EMS family.

We are committed to supporting new EMTs as they learn, grow, and develop their skills. You don't have to know everything on day one. EMS is a continuous learning process, and our experienced providers are here to help new members gain confidence, build their skill sets, and become strong, capable EMS providers.

No voting necessary this go around. All 4 participants will receive a book bag! The 2 extra book bags have been donated to the elementary school.

SO EXCITED to announce that due to the generosity of some of our technicians we will now be able to give away 6 FULL BACKPACKS!!

ONE backpack per grade (Kindergarten-5th Grade) will be given away! 🥰

This will include EVERYTHING on the supply list per grade except shoes and clothing items requested!

There's still time to get your little artists coloring pages in! We will be collecting them until 4pm tomorrow! Either turn them into the Canton City Office or contact us and we can have a tech meet you at the station if it's after hours 😊

Due to the first day of school being Thursday, we will start the judging tomorrow afternoon and it will end Wednesday afternoon to get the winners their supplies in time!

Reminder already printed coloring pages can be found at the Canton City Office, Canton Post Office on the cork board, and the Galva Post Office on their advertisement board!

Please also include parent name and phone number on the BACK of the picture so we can contact you if your child wins!

If you cannot make it to the city building during buisness hours please message us directly and we can schedule a time for one of our techs to meet you at the station!

Today, as the skies fill with fireworks and our communities come together in celebration, we are reminded that the freedoms we enjoy were not given freely—they were earned through the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

This Independence Day, Canton EMS honors the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice so future generations could live in freedom. We remember them with profound gratitude and recognize the families who continue to carry their legacy every day.

We are also deeply thankful for the service members, veterans, first responders, and all those who continue to answer the call to protect and serve our communities. Your commitment and sacrifice inspire us as we serve our own community each day.

As you celebrate with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly. Stay hydrated, use fireworks safely, never drink and drive, and take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we often take for granted.
