HEY, SLC TEENS! WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

What makes YOU want to show up for school? 🎒

Our Youth Bureau Teen Ambassadors need your help! If you're in junior or senior high school, take a few minutes to complete their “What Makes You Show Up?” survey.

Your answers will help our Teen Ambassadors develop ideas to make schools more welcoming, strengthen connections, and reduce chronic absenteeism across St. Lawrence County.

The SLC Youth Committee Teen Ambassadors will hold its next meeting on Sunday, October 18th from 2:30–4:00 PM at the Human Services Building in Canton!

Our Teen Ambassadors bring youth voices to the table, help shape Youth Bureau programs and initiatives, volunteer throughout the community, and take part in leadership and service opportunities across St. Lawrence County.

🎉 Happy 62nd Birthday to the Ogdensburg Boys & Girls Club!
Club members celebrated on September 25 with a bounce house obstacle course, carnival games, Big Bingo, a 32-person bumper pool tournament, and plenty of food, cake, and prizes! 🎂
A special thank-you to Ogdensburg Pepsi Bottlers, Adams Family Bounce Houses, and Kathy Kakes by Kathleen Hilborne for supporting the celebration.

💜 Happy National Good Neighbor Day! 🏡

Today is a great reminder that being a good neighbor can start with something small! The St. Lawrence County Youth Bureau challenges teens to do one thing for a neighbor today:

👋 Say hello or introduce yourself to someone new.
🗑️ Bring in a neighbor’s trash cans or offer to help with a small chore.
💬 Sit with someone new at lunch or check in on a classmate.
💌 Leave an encouraging note for someone who could use a smile.
❤️ Ask an older neighbor if they need a hand with anything.

Remember, your “neighbor” might live next door or sit next to you in class! Small acts of kindness help create communities where everyone feels like they belong.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us Friday, October 30, from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Human Services Building, 80 State Highway 310 in Canton for a fun, family-friendly St. Lawrence County Trunk or Treat!

Come enjoy decorated vehicles, costumes, candy, community fun, and meet some of the people and organizations serving families throughout St. Lawrence County. 🧡

Community organizations, youth programs, school clubs, and local businesses — we’d love to have you participate, too! Decorate a trunk, host a table, hand out treats, or create a fun activity for families. If you are interested in participating please register here:

Today we celebrate the grandparents and special older adults who bring love, wisdom, encouragement, and connection into the lives of young people. The time you spend listening, laughing, sharing traditions, and simply being there can make a lasting difference.
