🐈 BREAKING: Canton Clerk’s Office Urges Voters Not to Rely on Cat-Based Ballot Delivery Services. 🗳️

While we appreciate the initiative, our office has received no assurances that this particular feline understands Michigan election law, ballot security procedures, or the importance of meeting statutory deadlines.

We also have concerns about the chain of custody. Mostly because it’s a piece of string. 🧶

A friendly reminder: Your absentee ballot must be received by the Clerk’s Office by 8 PM on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.

With Election Day approaching, we strongly recommend returning your ballot to an official Canton ballot drop box or directly to the Clerk’s Office.

Please do not rely on the mail at this point.

And definitely don’t rely on the cat.

🔎 BEHIND THE SCENES: ABSENTEE BALLOT TABULATION BEGINS TOMORROW!

We received fewer absentee ballots today than we typically do because our Clerk’s Office team is preparing for one final reconciliation of our absentee ballots before transferring them to our Absent Voter Counting Board (AVCB).

Beginning at 9:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, Canton will begin the early tabulation of absentee ballots!

Michigan law allows election officials to process and tabulate absentee ballots before Election Day under strict security procedures.

🔒 IMPORTANT: Although absentee ballots will be tabulated in advance, NO election results will be released until after polls close at 8:00 PM on Election Day, November 3.

This process helps ensure that thousands of absentee ballots are processed securely, accurately, and efficiently.

Our election team continues working hard behind the scenes to ensure every eligible vote is counted!
