Remember Waffles? A few weeks ago, this little guy arrived at Canton Animal Control as a stray, hidden underneath a terribly matted coat. After a much needed shave, veterinary care, good food, and plenty of TLC, a whole new dog emerged, and he is looking for a new home.

We estimate Waffles to be around 10-12 years old. He weighs 13lbs. His vision is limited, but he has adjusted remarkably well and doesn't let that stop him from enjoying life.

Because Waffles cannot always see what is coming, he can be easily startled. For that reason, we feel he would do best in a quieter home without small children, where his family can give him a little extra patience and help him feel safe and secure.

Waffles loves his toys, his people, and a comfortable place to relax. We think he would do ok with a calm dog as a housemate. He does not seem interested in cats one way or the other.

Waffles is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to start his new life. If you have questions about Waffles, please call us at (781)575-6507. If you are interested in adopting him, please use the following link to fill out an application. https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=lj3346&method=online_form_html&formid=31

Update on the terribly matted stray dog that was brought in yesterday. He’s a boy, and we are calling him Waffles. 🧇

Waffles received excellent care yesterday at Canton Veterinary Hospital. The painful mats are gone, and he is almost unrecognizable compared to his “before” picture.

Waffles can’t see very well, but he is adjusting to the shelter and his new haircut wonderfully. He already has a favorite toy and is stealing our hearts.

Waffles is on a stray hold and is not available for adoption at this time. We’re hoping these updated pictures might help someone recognize him. If you know him or have any information about where he came from, please call us at 781-575-6507. Be sure to leave a voicemail if we don't answer.

We also want to take a moment for a few thank yous.
First, Canton Veterinary Hospital. The staff at CVH always takes amazing care of the animals we bring them, and we are so grateful for everything they do.
To everyone who shared, liked, or commented on the original post... Your engagement helps us get the word out. We appreciate you and the compassion you show.
To the groomers, Calling All Paws and Sean's Mobile Pet Grooming, who reached out and offered their services—this was so generous and kind of you. Thank you for wanting to help Waffles.
And last but certainly not least, thank you to everyone who has donated to our shelter in the past. Without your generosity, it would be difficult for us to help animals like Waffles when they come through our doors.

Thank you all!

FOUND DOG — ESTEY WAY

This dog is safe and has been transported to a veterinary hospital for treatment.

The dog was brought to Canton Animal Control today by a resident who reported finding it in their front yard on Estey Way.

This dog is painfully matted, but despite how uncomfortable it must be, is unbelievably sweet. The matting around its hind end is so extensive that the dog is unable to defecate normally. We are working on getting this dog comfortable and providing necessary care. A gender reveal will be coming after a good shave.

Please share, particularly in the Canton/Stoughton area. If you recognize this dog, know who the owner may be, or have any information that could help us, please call Canton Animal Control directly at 781-575-6507. If no one answers, please leave a voicemail.

We are not always able to monitor the comments on Facebook posts, so please do not leave important information in the comments. Call us directly.

This dog is not available for adoption at this time. We will provide an update when we have one.

Update: Little Debbie has found a new home. Thank you for sharing, commenting, calling, and submitting applications. It has been a lot to keep up with. So many people cared and we had quite a few applications. We're so happy for her and her new owner! We will be giving updates to her previous owner.

Little Debbie is almost 9 years old and has spent her life in the home of someone we know and love very much. Her owner was a longtime shelter volunteer who has given a tremendous amount of her time and heart to the animals in our care over the years.

Recently, she had to make the incredibly difficult decision to surrender Little Debbie because she is moving into an assisted living facility. It wasn’t a decision made because she stopped loving her or because Little Debbie did anything wrong. Quite the opposite. She adores this cat and wants nothing more than for her to be safe, happy, and loved for the rest of her life.

Little Debbie is a very sweet girl who has known the comfort of a quiet home and the feeling of being completely adored. After nearly nine years with the person she knows and loves, finding herself in a shelter is a huge change.

Do you have a quiet home, a soft place to sleep, a little patience while she adjusts, and a lot of love to share? She has been loved her entire life. She deserves for that to continue.

Please help us find this special girl her forever home.

If you have questions about Little Debbie, please call us at 781–575–6507. If you’re interested in filling out an adoption application please use the following link.

Update: Goose has found a loving family to adopt her and is no longer at the shelter.

Talk to me Goose…

No matter how many times I’ve asked, she’s not talking about her previous life. She won’t say how she got so malnourished. How she ended up in the street. What happened to the life she used to know.

When she first came to us, Goose was heartbreakingly underweight with painfully long nails. You can see earlier pictures in our 6/8/26 post. Thanks to good food, lots of love, excellent veterinary care, and a little time, she’s put on some much needed weight and is a strong, happy dog. We have loved watching her transform.

Now it’s time for the best part of her story…finding her forever family.

Goose is sweet, resilient, and proof that second chances can change a life. One on one she likes to spend lazy hours in the office lying on her favorite blanket. When there are a lot of people around she gets excited and wants to greet everyone. She can be jumpy when she’s excited and she needs an owner who will help her work on that. We think she’d do best in a home without little kids because she will probably knock them down. She is about 2 years old, spayed, vaccinated, and ready for the life she deserves.

If you’ve been waiting for your wingman, your co-pilot, or your new best friend, Goose is cleared for takeoff.

To learn more about Goose or to schedule a meet and greet, use the link below to fill out an adoption application online or call us at (781) 575-6507.

Update: Thank you for the calls, shares, and reactions to this post. Chase has found his purrfect home.

Meet Chase! This stunning guy was found found near Chase Bank when he was a tiny kitten. While his banking career didn’t work out, he’s hoping to make a solid investment in a forever family instead.

No, he doesn’t offer checking accounts, approve mortgages, or help you refinance… but he will pay you in unlimited purrs.

His only request? Be patient while he gets to know you. Once you’re approved, you’ll have a new best friend.

Chase is almost 4 months old. He’s neutered, vaccinated, and ready to deposit himself into your life. If you’re interested in meeting Chase please call us at (781)575-6507.

Final update - This sweet boy is home safe. His ears do look red in this picture, but they did not look that way in person or in the other pictures I took. There were no concerns for his health. He and his owner were very happy to be reunited. Thank you for sharing.

Update 7/27 - This dog’s owner called us last night and left a voicemail. We called back this morning and left him a voicemail. It is our hope that this exciting game of phone tag will end soon so this little guy can go home.

Do you recognize this little guy? He was found this morning and dropped off at the police station by a good samaritan. He’s safe with us now. If he’s yours, or you know where he belongs, please call us at 781–575–6507. If there’s no answer please leave a voicemail and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
