Visit to the The Healing Wall, Vietnam Memorial with American Legion and City of Canton in Cookeville TN. It’s our hope The Healing Wall will be in Canton in 2027!

10/21/2026

On October 20, Members of American Legion Post 45 of Canton visited Ball Ground Elementary school as part of a community outreach to children and youth. During the visit Legion members spent time in five kindergarten classrooms, interacting with approximately 125 children. The topic was Halloween safety and the children participated in discussions in actions they and their families can take to make Halloween as safe as possible. Legion members also distributed some safety materials and fun stuff for each of the children. The teachers and the staff at Ball Ground elementary very much appreciated this visit by “special guests” and we intend to build upon this in the future.

🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 CANTON, YOU DIDN'T JUST SHOW UP… YOU SHOWED OUT!!! 👏👏👏

OH. MY. GOODNESS, CANTON!!! 🥹❤️

What an incredible day for American Legion Thomas M. Brady Post 45!

Our Red, White & Blue BBQ was a SOLD-OUT SUCCESS, and we have YOU to thank for it!

From everyone who preordered to those who stopped by to grab a last-minute pork butt or slab of ribs, your generosity, enthusiasm, and support absolutely blew us away!

We don't have the final dollar amounts just yet, BUTT 🍑😂 (yes, the pun was absolutely intended!), here's what we DO know:

EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR you spent supporting this fundraiser goes right back into supporting the children and youth of Cherokee County! ❤️

And THAT is what makes today so special.
Your support helps us invest in programs and opportunities such as:

🇺🇸 The American Legion Oratorical Contest — encouraging our high school students to develop confidence, leadership, and public speaking skills.

🇺🇸 The Americanism Essay Contest — giving our elementary school students an opportunity to express their patriotism and love for our country.

🇺🇸 Cherokee High School's Air Force Junior ROTC Program — supporting our young cadets, including their upcoming shooting competition.

🇺🇸 Boys State and Girls State summer programs — providing young men and women with incredible opportunities to develop leadership skills, learn about government, and build friendships that can last a lifetime.

When you purchased that pork butt or those delicious ribs, you weren't simply buying dinner.

You were investing in a child. You were encouraging a student. You were supporting a future leader. And you were making a difference right here in OUR community. ❤️

That is something we never take for granted.

To everyone who purchased, volunteered, helped prepare food, spread the word, or simply cheered us on — THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

This is what community looks like. This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like. And THIS is why we are so proud to call Cherokee County home.

On behalf of Post 45 Commander Joey Price , your Post Adjutant Marget Weatherby, and the entire American Legion Post 45 family, we extend our sincerest gratitude.

CANTON, Y'ALL MADE US PROUD TODAY!!! 👏🇺🇸🫡

Our hearts are full, our BBQ is GONE, and thanks to YOU, our mission continues!

We may be out of BUTTS 🍑😂… BUTT we'll never run out of gratitude for this amazing community!

❤️🤍💙 THANK YOU, CHEROKEE COUNTY! ❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 IMPORTANT UPDATE — POW/MIA REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY POSTPONED 🇺🇸

Due to the increasing chance of rain and severe weather on Saturday, October 10, Thomas M. Brady American Legion Post 45 has made the decision to postpone our POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony.

NEW DATE & TIME:
📅 Tuesday, October 13, 2026
⏰ 12:00 PM
📍 American Legion Post 45
160 McClure Street, Canton, GA 30115

While we regret any inconvenience this change may cause, the safety of our members, guests, and community must come first. We feel postponing the ceremony is the necessary precaution.

We hope you will join us Tuesday as we gather to honor, remember, and bear witness for our American prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

A light lunch will be served following the ceremony. The event remains open to the community, and all are welcome.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this updated information.
