9/28/2026 1:20 pm update: The premade bags have all been picked up. A load of sand is being delivered with bags available at the site. Anyone coming to make sand bags should bring a shovel or tool.

ORIGINAL POST:

⚠️ With possible flooding conditions this week, sandbags are available for residents at the Canyon Area Library north parking lot.

Enter from the south side of the parking lot and exit onto 2nd Avenue. A map is attached in the comments.

Sandbags can help redirect or slow shallow, moving water around doorways, garages and other low entry points. For best results, place bags tightly together in a row with the folded end facing the direction of water flow. Stack additional bags in a staggered pattern if needed.

Please plan ahead and prepare before conditions worsen, and be sure to follow the US National Weather Service Amarillo Texas and Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management as potential flooding preparations continue.
