It was a tough day for the SEMO Redhawks football team, but your Cape Girardeau firefighters were at Houck Stadium to support our hometown football team at Southeast Missouri State University!

The Fire Department is truly a family! We had the best family fun night last weekend. You might have driven by Fire Station 4 and seen the lit pumpkins outside!

We wish you all a safe and fun Halloween Holiday weekend. And, don't forget about the Time Change as Daylight Saving Time ends and we "fall back" an hour. Fall is here!

THANK YOU, McDOWELL SOUTH RV!
We are incredibly grateful to McDowell South RV for its generous donation of temporary living quarters for our Engine 1 crew!

Thanks to their generosity, our crew has been able to continue emergency response operations from Fire Station 1 while having a place to call home during this time.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire McDowell South RV team for stepping up to support the City of Cape Girardeau Fire Department and the community we proudly serve. We are truly blessed to have such dedicated community partners who recognize the importance of supporting those who protect and serve our city.

This is what community is all about—neighbors helping neighbors! Thank you, McDowell South RV, for making a difference in Cape Girardeau!

Your Cape Girardeau Firefighters responded to a Residential 1st Alarm incident in the 800 block of North Fountain Street just before Noon today.

The fire was extinguished quickly inside of the residence, but we are saddened to report that one dog has perished as a result of smoke inhalation from the fire.

Our Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

National Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 4th-Oct. 10th. Today we would like to remind everyone that devices and chargers create heat during normal charging. Charging tablets or cell phones on soft surfaces like beds, pillows, and couches can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat and possibly start a fire. Keep you and your family safe by making sure charging occurs on hard surfaces.

It’s Hydrant Testing season for us! We want to make sure that the fire hydrant closest to your house is operational and ready to be used at a moment’s notice. :) If you see us out and about, be sure to give us a wave!
