Earlier today, our crews responded to a fire involving a privately owned, out-of-service ambulance.

The suspected cause was an electric heater had been left running inside the ambulance and ignited nearby contents, resulting in a significant fire.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire using approximately 750 gallons of water.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

A world safe from fires is a generational change that starts with our smallest citizens. Our Learn Not to Burn program, led by Firefighter Mike, is the foundation to help accomplish that.

For this Fire Prevention Week, Mike will be visiting schools throughout our community to teach our children about fire safety. From stop, drop and roll to escape plans and smoke detector use, these are all important lessons that can help keep our children and our homes safe.

Fire safety starts at a young age, and we’re proud to have Firefighter Mike leading the way!

🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Week! 🔥

This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower.”

We use rechargeable batteries every day—in our phones, tablets, power tools, toys, e-bikes and countless other devices. Taking a few simple precautions when charging can help prevent a battery from becoming a fire hazard.

Use the charger and cord intended for your device, charge on a hard surface, unplug devices when they are fully charged, and never use a battery that is damaged, swollen or unusually hot.

This Fire Prevention Week, charge smart and stay safe! 🚒🔋
