A new law modernizing the Commonwealth’s regulation of telemarketing took effect earlier this week with the goal of cracking down on spoofing, robocalls, scam texts and more.

Act 47 of 2026 prohibits telemarketing calls before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m., and at any time on Sundays and legal holidays. It requires prior express written consent for most robocalls and telemarketing text messages for those on the Do-Not-Call List and prohibits deceptive or fraudulent practices used to obtain a consumer’s consent.

The law also prohibits telemarketers from falsely identifying themselves or using deceptive caller ID information, including spoofed numbers. It allows consumers to opt out of telemarketing text messages by responding with commonly recognized terms such as “STOP,” “QUIT,” “END,” “CANCEL” or “UNSUBSCRIBE.” Finally, it requires telemarketers to stop their solicitation when a consumer asks them to do so.

It was a pleasure to welcome Cumberland Valley High School track champions Vanessa Graziano and Sophie Werner to the State Capitol in recognition of their outstanding achievement in winning the state championship in the 4x400-meter relay!

Congratulations to Vanessa, Sophie, their teammates Juliana Graziano and Selina Xu, and coach Derek Hockenbery on this well-deserved accomplishment.

Although Juliana and Selina were unable to join us at the Capitol, we are proud to recognize the entire relay team for their hard work, dedication, and success. Congratulations, champions!

Congratulations to Big Spring Heights Church of God on 90 years of faith, fellowship, and service to the community!

I was honored to attend yesterday's anniversary celebration service and present a House citation recognizing this incredible milestone.

Thank you to the congregation and Pastor Chris Faylor for your warm welcome and for 90 years of making such a positive impact in our community.

Special interest money should be kept out of politics! Public servants should be working for you, not themselves.

PA is sadly one of only three states without a statutory gift ban for public servants. As a result, we literally have state lawmakers getting Super Bowl tickets from lobbyists.

I’m working with a group of representatives to change that. The Gift Ban has been blocked for too many years - so we’re trying to literally force it to a vote in the House.

I’ll keep you updated on the progress we make. In the meanwhile, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
