Commissioners recognize Gary Yorlets for 40 years of service to the county! 👏

As Property Mapping Supervisor in our GIS Department, Gary has played a key role in modernizing the county’s property mapping system, transitioning from paper maps to digital GIS technology and helping lead major software upgrades over the years.

Today, he supervises a team of three technicians who help ensure accurate property records are available to residents through the county’s Property Mapper website.

Thank you, Gary, for four decades of dedication, expertise and commitment to serving Cumberland County!

101-Year-Old Cumberland County WWII Veteran Truman Christian Returns to His Foxhole in Belgium 🪖

Truman served as a .30-caliber machine gunner with the 106th Infantry Division, 424th Infantry Regiment, D Company, during the Battle of the Bulge.

During his visit this week, Truman stood in the very foxhole where he was positioned on Jan. 13, 1945, one of about 20 foxholes in the area and one of only three machine gun positions.

Truman was also honored by Belgium’s King Philippe at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery during his visit.
