🎯 Breaking clays and building resilience with the Iron Rakkasans!

Thirty-two soldiers from Charlie Company “Choppin’ Charlie,” 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment “Iron Rakkasans” joined SSO for a great day of sporting clays at Pine Ridge Farm in Tennessee.

Under sunny skies, the soldiers tackled the 50-target course, turning in some impressive scores and enjoying a great day outdoors before gathering for lunch and learn about resiliency and spiritual fitness.

SSO Kentucky Area Director Richard E Davis led a discussion on the importance of building resilience through relationships, community, and faith. He emphasized that spiritual fitness is more than a belief—it's about aligning how we live with what we believe. Developing that spiritual foundation strengthens personal resilience and contributes to spiritual readiness and overall military readiness.

Battalion Chaplain (CPT) Michael Kearney reinforced the message with two important questions: Who are you, and what is your purpose in life? Questions that invite us to look beyond our military roles and consider the foundation on which we're building our lives.

At SSO, outdoor adventure brings soldiers together, but the greater purpose is investing in their spiritual fitness and helping them discover the lasting hope, identity, and purpose found in Jesus Christ.

A big thank you to Pine Ridge Farm for another outstanding sporting clays experience, Legends Smokehouse & Grill, LLC for the incredible lunch (especially the brisket!), and SSO volunteer John Endsley for helping make the day possible.

It was an incredible day at Joshua Tree National Park with Marines from the 1st Marine Regiment.

With the professionals from Cliffhanger Guides leading the way, the Marines spent the day rock climbing, caving, and rappelling through spectacular rock formations.

Following the adventure, SSO Founder and President Rick Wolf led a discussion on spiritual fitness and resiliency—what they mean, why they matter, and how we develop them.

Rick challenged the Marines to consider a fundamental question: Where is your anchor? What foundation are you building your life on?

Just as climbers depend on a secure anchor, navigating life's difficulties requires a foundation we can trust. Rick shared how faith in Jesus Christ provides that foundation, giving us an identity, purpose, and source of strength that extends beyond our circumstances or military service.

That's the purpose behind SSO's outdoor program: bringing service members together through incredible experiences while creating opportunities to explore faith, strengthen spiritual fitness, and build lasting resilience.

A huge thank you to Seth, Sabra, and the entire Cliffhanger Guides crew for their professionalism, expertise, and an unforgettable day on the rocks. And to our volunteers, Randy, Jen, Melody, and Kevin for supporting our nation's warriors.

Soldiers from Echo Company “The Legion,” 526th Light Support Battalion out of U.S. Army Fort Campbell joined SSO at Circle T Ranch in Cerulean, KY for a day on horseback and a program focused on resiliency and spiritual fitness.

For many soldiers, this was their first experience riding a horse. With encouragement from fellow soldiers and their company leadership—including the Commander, Executive Officer, and First Sergeant—initial nerves gave way to confidence and a great day on the trails.

Following the ride, Area Director Richard E Davis led a discussion about building resilience for life's difficulties. Just as the soldiers relied on one another on the trail, we all need relationships and a strong foundation of faith to navigate life's uncertainties.

Through SSO's spiritual fitness program, soldiers were encouraged to consider how faith in Jesus Christ and a supportive community provide strength, purpose, and lasting resilience—not just for military service, but for all of life.

A big thank-you to Circle T Ranch for the delicious home-cooked meal and to the ranch hands who prepared the horses and guided the soldiers safely along the trails!

📊 2026 BY THE NUMBERS

🇺🇸 443 service members participated in the 3rd quarter.

🇺🇸 2,131 service members reached so far in 2026!

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

On September 30, the Department of War announced the establishment of the Office of Religious Affairs, reflecting a renewed emphasis on religious support and spiritual readiness within our military.

SSO Founder and President Rick Wolf, who served nearly 30 years in the military, says he's never witnessed this level of attention to faith, spiritual fitness, and transcendent purpose from senior military leadership.

For SSO, the significance of this moment is clear. Military commands are recognizing the importance of spiritual fitness and inviting us to engage directly with their service members, where we can share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a meaningful and personal way.

At many of our programs, 30% or more of participants respond by praying to receive Christ or recommitting their lives to Him. Most of these young men and women are under the age of 30.

This is about far more than program numbers.

It's about reaching a generation at a formative time in their lives with the truth of the Gospel, all while strengthening their resilience, preparing them to face challenges, and equipping them to move forward through adversity with a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.

Military leaders are seeing that impact firsthand as service members return to their units with stronger connections, renewed purpose, and greater confidence in facing the demands of military life.

As we enter the final quarter of 2026, we're encouraged by all God has accomplished and excited about what the coming months will bring.

Please continue praying for these service members and for all those sharing Christ within our military.

Thank you to our donors, volunteers, and ministry partners who make every program possible!

It was another incredible day building resiliency and total force fitness with soldiers with the HHC, 57th Expeditionary Signal Battalion out of U.S. Army Fort Hood. The group joined our Texas team on the sporting clay course at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club before jumping into the spiritual fitness discussion led by Area Director and retired U.S. Marine Corps MSgt Tony Smit.

Tony asked the soldiers to define resilience and consider the role spiritual fitness plays in their overall readiness.

He shared his perspective on how he found his identity, and peace in his life, when he placed his faith in Christ. He pointed out the difference in building the foundation of our life on temporary things, like our career and title which can be gone in just a moment, to the solid foundation that trust in God provides.

When our identity and purpose are rooted in Christ rather than our circumstances, we have a foundation for resilience that can withstand life's uncertainties.

Thank you David and the awesome staff at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club for hosting us. And, shout out to our faithful volunteers Pat Schaub and Don Sugden for investing their time in these soldiers!

Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion “Gladiators” joined SSO at Pine Ridge Farm for our first archery event!

After learning about the history of the bow and arrow, soldiers tried their hand at shooting different bows at 3D targets and even throwing an atlatl, an ancient weapon that predates the traditional bow.

Following the archery, Kentucky Area Director Richard E Davis led a discussion about resilience, spiritual readiness, and why we weren't meant to face life's difficulties alone.

Just as soldiers rely on one another for mission readiness, relationships and community are essential to spiritual fitness. Richard also drew a connection to the missed targets throughout the day. We all miss the mark in life, and those burdens can weigh heavily on us. But through a relationship with Jesus Christ, we can experience forgiveness, peace, and reconciliation with God. That's a foundation that carries us through military service and long after the uniform comes off.

Special thanks to Joey, Melissa, and the Pine Ridge Farm staff for an incredible archery experience and Legends Smokehouse & Grill, LLC for a fantastic lunch!

And a special moment for Richard at the program, his grandson came out for the day and helped serve these warriors.

🇺🇸 Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Navy!

For 251 years, the United States Navy has stood ready to defend our nation, protect our freedoms, and answer the call to serve around the world.

Today, we honor the generations of sailors who have served with courage, dedication, and sacrifice, and we thank those who continue to stand the watch.

At Soul Survivor Outdoor, we are privileged to serve alongside active-duty sailors, providing opportunities to step away from the demands of military life through outdoor adventure, meaningful relationships, and conversations about identity, faith, and resilience. Our mission is to help strengthen the spiritual fitness of those who serve, encouraging them to build their lives on the unshakable foundation of Christ.

To the sailors and families who sacrifice so much in service to our nation, thank you! We are grateful for your service and honored to be part of your journey.
